The blade is crafted from 420HC stainless steel, hardened to achieve a hardness level of 55-59 HRC. Each tool features a finish applied through the bead blasting process (Bead Blast), resulting in a consistent matte, satin-gray surface that minimizes glare.

The multitool handle utilizes 420 stainless steel, valued for its superior corrosion resistance and considerable impact strength. 420HC is a high-carbon version of 420 stainless steel, containing 0.4-0.5% carbon and 12-14% chromium. Thanks to its higher carbon content, it achieves higher hardness (55-57 HRC) and better cutting properties than standard 420 steel, making it ideal for the production of outdoor, hunting, and everyday knives. The steel is characterized by very good corrosion resistance, high fracture toughness, and ease of sharpening, which increases its versatility. It is a material with a favorable price-quality ratio, making it a popular choice for mid-range knives. With proper heat treatment, 420HC can achieve properties comparable to AUS6 steel, but at a more affordable price.

420 is a martensitic stainless steel often used in cutlery, especially in kitchen knives, EDC, and budget outdoor models. It is characterized by a relatively low carbon content (0.16-0.25%), which allows for a hardness range of 54-57 HRC, ensuring easy sharpening and resistance to chipping. Chromium (12-14%) provides good corrosion resistance, making the steel suitable for use in humid conditions. Silicon and manganese additives (up to 1%) improve strength and hardenability, while low sulfur and phosphorus content reduce the brittleness of the material. 420 steel is valued for its high corrosion resistance, relatively high impact strength (resistance to cracks and chipping), and low processing costs. Thanks to its ease of machining and polishing, it is popular in the production of low- and mid-range knives.

Cerakote is an advanced ceramic-polymer coating applied to knife blades to increase their durability and give them a distinctive appearance. It forms a thin, opaque layer that does not alter the geometry or balance of the blade, while ensuring high durability. Its matte, non-reflective finish, available in a variety of colors, makes it a popular choice for tactical and outdoor knives. The coating is resistant to impact, chipping, and abrasion, effectively protecting the steel in demanding conditions. In corrosion tests (Salt Spray ASTM B-117), it retains its properties for thousands of hours, protecting the blade from rust and oxidation. It is also resistant to chemicals, including cleaning agents and solvents.

Bead Blast is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel with a stream of fine ceramic or glass beads under high pressure. It gives the surface a uniform matte, satin-gray appearance without any light reflections.     It is definitely an excellent EDC choice for tactical and outdoor tasks. So far, the only thing I think could be improved is the saw. In the latest Leatherman models, the saw blade is wider than the back, which helps prevent binding while cutting. Without a doubt, this is the Leatherman tool I will be using at work.

    Order placed on 21.04 arrived to me on 25.04. The shipment was international, so the product was not present in Ukraine at the time of purchase. Advantages: high quality, decent warranty, quite fast shipping, and aesthetic packaging. Main drawback: when picking it up at the post office, I noticed oil stains on the warranty, and the multitool was all covered in oil, especially on the blade, body, and inside the box, which had been wiped. It was supposed to be a gift, so it didn’t look great, especially for a product at this price – something to keep in mind when buying.

    Nice, lightweight tool similar in size to the Surge, though lighter. Nice Cerakote grips. They are matte and a bit rough, so they don't slip from the hand. A small minus for the sharpener and fire starter because they are a bit poor quality. Overall, I recommend it for camping and hiking.

    A great multitool and not just for outdoor tasks. It's quite light and slim, plus it has a clip and a carabiner, so you can always carry it with you. If you don't plan to use the whistle/firestarter, you can remove them (and the sharpener) to make it even lighter. For me, the less obvious functions turned out to be very useful: the standard bit holder, hammer, and awl. The sharpener is handy for touching up pruning shears when I'm in the garden (I was always missing that), and it works better than flat files. Of course, it won't replace proper sharpening, but that's not what it's for. The hammer is exactly what I'm always missing when I need to drive pegs into agrofabric. With a few modifications, the Signal could earn the title of 'gardening multitool.' Very nice color version. The Cerakote coating is very durable.

    Top-class multitool. Not only for the forest but also suitable for EDC. It is smaller and lighter than the Wave+. Easy access to the knife and saw, replaceable cutters. There is also a small sharpener so you can sharpen it a bit on the go. Downsides are that you can't close it when using the bit holder because the hammer blocks the way. The firestarter wears out quickly and is more for emergencies than for frequent use, and a replacement costs almost as much as a good thick rod. Overall OK. Buy an extra set of bits and an adapter for it and you have a solid set.

    Well, it’s a Leatherman, so the quality is inherent. This particular color version looks excellent, the tool is built solid as hell and equipped with loads of options for outdoor enthusiasts. Surprisingly, this is probably the first multitool I have for which you should read the instructions to figure out all the functions. A purchase for years.

    I highly recommend it, I've been using it for a few months and it's useful for everything. A big plus is the original appearance, the only minus is that the black paint wore off very quickly even though I kept the multitool in a separate pocket without the possibility of rubbing against other items.
