The Light My Fire firestarter is one of those pieces of equipment that you simply should always have on you – and specifically the FireSteel 2.0 BioScout model made a very good impression on me. First of all, it's solidly made: the ferro rod is thick, produces stable sparks, and the whole thing fits well in the hand even with gloves or wet fingers. The bioplastic handle is slightly rough, which prevents it from slipping and allows for precise movement control. In terms of performance, it's excellent – the sparks are really hot and plentiful, easily igniting cotton wool, dry grass, kindling, or a properly prepared birch bark tinder. Compared to cheaper firestarters, the difference in spark quality is immediately noticeable. The serrated metal scraper also works surprisingly well, though it isn't strictly necessary – the firestarter also works with a knife edge. The whole set is lightweight and compact, fits easily in a pocket, pouch, waist pack, or hangs around your neck. The lanyard connecting both parts is strong and flexible enough. A nice bonus is the built-in whistle – it may not replace a professional signaling whistle, but in an emergency it provides a loud, clear sound. The Red color is highly visible, which helps if you drop the firestarter in the grass or among your gear. It's a reliable source of fire for camping, hiking, an emergency EDC kit or bushcraft. It simply always works as it should – and in the outdoors, that's what matters most. I recommend it 100%.

The fire starter sparks very well. I've used it several times already and there are no signs of wear. The sparks are large and you can quickly start a fire. Overall, I recommend the product. I am a beginner, but I had no problem lighting a fire.

Fantastic. It sparks like sparklers on a Christmas tree. Why do we need matches that can run out? Or a gas or electric lighter? Here is a simple metal device—just rub one piece against the other and you have fire. And who cares if it falls into the water? Just wait, it will dry out and work again. Light My Fire rules. Nice for everyday wear because it's small and light. The “racing” color helps locate the firestarter even if it falls to the ground. The whistle is also useful.
