Thanks to the precise scale and the ring in the center—after threading a string—setting and reading azimuths becomes quick and accurate. Using it in the field allows you to instantly determine direction, which speeds up orientation and planning. The material is solid, the ruler itself is light and handy, ideal for any trip. It definitely improves the comfort of map work. In previous reviews someone mentioned a slight inaccuracy in one of the scales—I specifically checked this. For me, everything is properly scaled.

One of the best and most helpful tools for working with maps. The flexible plastic means you won’t break the protractor. It’s worth threading a thin elastic string through the hole in the center, as it makes it easier to determine azimuths. It’s a pity it’s not included in the set, but that doesn’t affect my rating.

Overall very nicely made, unfortunately the 1:25000 scale is off by about a millimeter over a kilometer, so reading MGRS coordinates may be prone to error. The other scales, degrees, and mils are properly calibrated.
