Mechanix Wear ColdWork Original Tactical Gloves - Black/Grey

Insulated gloves in Black/Grey, engineered for low-temperature environments. They offer excellent protection against frost while also shielding hands from abrasions and cuts. The optimal fit guarantees exceptional grip control and does not restrict the execution of detailed tasks. This model is ideal for survival expeditions, automotive workshop tasks, DIY projects, ASG, or paintball activities.

Durable softshell, C40 3M Thinsulate insulation

The gloves are crafted from thick fleece, while the upper side of the palm features a layer of softshell fabric, effectively blocking cold air from seeping in. C40 3M Thinsulate insulation ensures reliable warmth and thermal comfort even in severe weather conditions.

Durable synthetic leather, touchscreen compatibility

The palm section features synthetic leather construction, offering exceptional durability and precision for detailed tasks. Enhanced with robust Armortex material, the thumb area is specially reinforced. The palm’s design enables touchscreen functionality while keeping the gloves on.

Comfortable Velcro closure, anatomical stitching, snap buckle

Constructed from thermoplastic rubber (TPR), the clasp includes a Velcro strap, providing a secure and comfortable fit around the wrist. The model also features a snap buckle that enables the gloves to be fastened together, greatly simplifying transport and storage. The stitching follows the anatomical contours of the hand, delivering an optimal fit.

EN388-2111X and EN511-22X standards

These gloves comply with the protective standard EN388 at level 2111X for mechanical hazard resistance, which includes:

  • 2: abrasion resistance (rated on a scale of 0–4)
  • 1: blade cut resistance (rated on a scale of 0–5)
  • 1: tear resistance (rated on a scale of 0–4)
  • 1: puncture resistance (rated on a scale of 0–4)
  • X: cut resistance – TDM test (ISO 13997) (rated on a scale of A–F)

Cold protection is certified according to the EN511 standard at level 22X, which covers:

  • 2: convective cold resistance (rated on a scale of 0–4)
  • 2: contact cold resistance (rated on a scale of 0–4)
  • X: resistance to water penetration (rating is either 0 or 1)

The EN388 and EN511 standards use scales to indicate glove protection levels: 0 means no protection, while the highest values (4, 5) represent the maximum possible resistance. For water penetration resistance, 0 indicates penetration, while 1 means no penetration.

Alphabetic ratings are used in the TDM (ISO 13997) test, where A denotes the lowest level of cut protection, and F signifies the highest.

The X mark signifies that a specific parameter has not been tested or is not applicable.

Warm, comfortable, and durable. I bought them for winter walks with my dog and trips to the forest with a backpack. Comfortable down to -6°C, easy to use with a phone and handling the backpack. Not suitable for wet snow and rain. They are also not work gloves for medium or heavy work. I am very satisfied with them.

The gloves have a very favorable quality-to-price ratio, they provide good protection against cold in typically low temperatures (they are not intended for extreme frosts). They are comfortable and easy to put on and take off. They are made of materials that seem solid—their durability will be shown over time.

Very well made, comfortable, warm—to a certain point, because when it dropped to -15°C it wasn't so nice anymore. I bought one pair in size L and then a second in size XL, assuming the looser ones would be better for colder weather, but what's strange is that the L size fits perfectly, while in the XL the right thumb is tight. So I recommend going to the store, trying them on, and choosing the pair that fits, since sewing is not precise mechanics. The palm interior is lined with a material that provides quite good grip, perfectly sufficient for various camping tasks or handling firearms. We'll see how long it lasts, because I know from other Mechanix gloves that this material wears out over time. So far, it's been about 2 months and there's no sign of wear yet. Touchscreen support works, although it's hard to say what it's really for, as typing a PIN in gloves is difficult, let alone writing a message.

Nice gloves. Bought for the car to drive on cold days. They work very well. Outside, at subzero temperatures, they don't really work. Hands get cold.

After using the gloves for the past few weeks, I'll say this—in intense movement or light effort (like shoveling snow) at temperatures of -6/-8°C, they provide hands with good protection and thermal comfort. But when movement and effort stop, the gloves quickly become insufficient and hands start to get cold fast. Another equally important factor is an individual’s resistance/sensitivity to cold, and a third is blood circulation and the different ability of each body to keep hands and feet warm during frost. So, the issue of glove warmth is highly subjective and depends on the usage situation, not just the temperature.

Short, but if you want to navigate with the watch, they have to be like this. Rather for everyday use, for walks rather than heavy work. At -5°C it was comfortable, at -10°C definitely not :)

Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with the quality of Mechanix gloves. After just one day of use, the seams started to come apart and the fleece quickly pilled. The gloves were used only for turning the steering wheel and holding levers in heavy equipment, so they were not exposed to any extreme use. Despite this, their durability turned out to be very weak. In practice, the gloves are only suitable for walking, but without the possibility of touching anything — the grip is poor and the comfort of use is low. As for the heating function, at a temperature of –3°C, my fingers were completely frozen, so this feature basically does not fulfill its purpose. In summary: low workmanship, poor durability, and ineffective heating. I definitely do not recommend them for work or in low temperatures.

The insulated version of Mechanix gloves is basically the same as the regular ones, very good for light work where dexterity is a priority. For heavy work, they fall apart. They're also a bit too short, barely protecting the wrist.

The gloves fit well on my hands. I'm between two sizes, so I chose the smaller one for comfort and better dexterity. They could be a bit longer, but longer jacket sleeves can compensate for that. They don't provide warmth when the temperature drops below zero, but for milder days they work quite well. The dexterity allows for easy use of zippers.

Great gloves, very well made, optimal thermal insulation vs thickness. They provide good sensitivity while effectively protecting against the cold. So good that I bought a second pair in the fast fit version.

Great gloves. So good that I have both models – the fast fit and the one with a strap – and use them depending on the situation. When I have a bigger watch or don't want them to come off, I use the ones with the strap. If I want to take them off and put them on often, don't have a big watch or need them to cover more of my wrist, I use the fast fit ones. Touchscreen operation is flawless.

I bought the Mechanix Wear ColdWork Original - Coyote gloves a few weeks ago. Despite the insulating layer, they provide a fairly secure grip. They do not slip on the objects you hold, and they offer thermal comfort at low temperatures. Of course, these are not gloves that will keep your hands warm in temperatures well below zero. In my opinion, they are a good compromise between insulation, the thickness of the inner lining, secure grip, and a price adequate to the product received.

Very good quality, they look great, fit the hands perfectly. These are not gloves for severe frosts, but they will definitely protect your hands around zero degrees. Very comfortable to wear, I was afraid they would be too tight. But they're just fine.

Mechanix to Mechanix These are another pair of gloves from this company – this time winter gloves. Very well made, fit perfectly on the hands. Warm and breathe nicely. An excellent compromise between insulation and dexterity. I recommend them. The service and delivery speed from Militaria is always premium as usual.

The gloves are very comfortable and well-made, providing good protection against the cold—in my opinion, they work up to -5°C, and even at -10°C with intense movement. I recommend them to anyone looking for lightweight, insulated gloves—they are comfortable, well-built, and in my opinion, have no flaws.
