Flecktarn represents the iconic camouflage pattern developed for the German Bundeswehr, officially adopted in 1990. Characterized by clusters of small, irregular spots in five distinct colors—dark green, olive, brown, black, and beige—Flecktarn offers excellent disruption of a wearer’s outline amidst woodlands, dense shrubs, and forest floor vegetation. The abundance of dots and the subtle transitions between shades contribute to its superior concealment, making it particularly suited to European climates within the temperate zone. To this day, Flecktarn continues to serve as the standard camouflage for the German military and is also utilized by law enforcement and military units in various countries. Its proven effectiveness has inspired multiple variants and adaptations worldwide.
