Ontario Rat-3 Utility Knife

Full tang knife equipped with a cleaver-style blade crafted from 1075 carbon tool steel, renowned for its high impact resistance. Blade surface is treated with phosphating, resulting in a black matte finish that provides corrosion protection. Edge features a flat grind on two surfaces: the belly and the clipped point. Jimping (grooving) is integrated into the spine at the thumb rest to enhance grip and blade control. A dedicated notch on the ricasso allows secure placement of the index finger beneath the edge. Blade is tempered to a hardness of 57-59 HRC.

Ergonomically contoured handle scales manufactured from Micarta, a composite of canvas layers and epoxy resin, are fastened to the tang. The anti-slip texture, combined with an integrated cross guard, ensures the hand does not slide onto the blade during use. Lanyard or cord can be threaded through the hole located at the exposed tang end.

Supplied with a nylon sheath that includes a mounting loop, as well as a strap secured with a single snap to prevent accidental loss. Sheath is MOLLE compatible, allowing versatile attachment options.
