Felt discs serve as inserts positioned within the barrel, mainly intended to keep the powder charge and the projectile apart. Their application efficiently protects the lead bullet from coming into direct contact with the muzzle flash during discharge, minimizing the chances of bullet deformation due to heat and reducing the accumulation of lead inside the barrel.
