Rip-Stop

Durable material with protective coating

Constructed from 100% polyamide 70D with a Rip-Stop weave, the cover is engineered to minimize the risk of further tearing should the material become damaged. A PU coating on the exterior delivers excellent water resistance, keeping the backpack’s contents protected even under heavy rainfall and extended moisture exposure. The implementation of a seamless structure removes potential weak spots associated with fabric joints.

In 2025, the company celebrated its 70th anniversary, and it is now run by the third generation of the founding family. Savotta has worked with the Finnish Defence Forces since the 1960s, supplying solutions that meet military quality standards. The company focuses on durable, top-grade materials such as Cordura, with 97% of raw materials sourced from suppliers in the European Union. Savotta's proprietary solutions include the Rapid Adjustment Slider quick-adjustment system, frames made from polyethylene sheets, and laser-cut constructions in the PALS/MOLLE standard. Savotta products are designed in Finland and manufactured entirely within the European Union. Due to high demand, since 2025 production has been carried out in three countries: Finland, Estonia, and Poland, while the final quality control of every product takes place at the Finnish headquarters in Karstula.

    I bought this product for my Savotta backpacks because I have the impression that they absorb a lot of water during rain. The cover can be easily folded to a small size, so it hardly takes up any space. I chose the original Savotta, even though it cost a bit more, because I wanted durability and solidity during hikes in the forest.
