Savotta FDF Sleeping Pad Folding Mat

Folding sleeping pad measuring 210 x 100 cm, designed for the Finnish Defence Forces in the 1980s. It is equipped with a durable core made of 12 mm thick foam, providing effective insulation from the ground, and side protective panels that increase the usable surface area of the pad, ensuring extra comfort during rest.

The model features a thermal insulation rating of R-Value 2, determined in accordance with the ASTM F3340-18 standard. This parameter defines the level of insulation from the ground - the higher the value, the more effective the reduction of heat loss.

Interpretation of R-Value used in the outdoor industry:

• 1.0-2.0 - use in summer conditions (night temperatures above approx. 10 deg. C),
• 2.1-3.5 - spring-summer-fall use (approx. 0-10 deg. C),
• 3.6-5.0 - cool conditions, around 0 deg. C and sub-zero temperatures down to approx. -5 /-10 deg. C,
• 5.1-7.0 - winter use, temperatures below 0 deg. C,
• above 7.0 - winter conditions with increased insulation requirements.

Actual thermal comfort depends on the sleep system (sleeping bag, clothing), the type of ground, and the user's individual resistance to cold.

The pad is made of durable and abrasion-resistant 210D polyamide with a polyurethane coating. On the underside, the pad is lined with 600D polyester, which is additionally coated with a rubber layer providing anti-slip properties and effective protection against moisture. In the center of the pad there is a core measuring 190 x 50 cm made of soft 12 mm thick foam, which ensures high comfort during rest. On both sides of the core there are additional fabric panels 25 cm wide each, which increase the usable surface area of the pad.

The pad can be rolled up to compact dimensions, so it does not take up too much space in your equipment. The set includes elastic straps that secure the rolled-up pad during transport.
