Schrade Bedrock Magnum Drop Point Fixed Blade Knife - Black

Survival knife featuring a smooth Drop Point blade made from Japanese AUS-8 stainless steel and finished with a corrosion-resistant coating. The handle is made of polymer and covered with a rubber anti-slip coating. The set includes a sheath with a flint and a sharpener.

Japanese AUS-8 steel

The blade is made from Japanese AUS-8 stainless steel, commonly used in utility knives. It offers good corrosion resistance and is relatively easy to sharpen. This steel provides a balanced combination of wear resistance, edge retention, and impact toughness.

drop-point blade, Titanium Nitride coating

The Drop Point blade is 172 mm long and 3.3 mm thick. It features a smooth cutting edge with a hollow grind. To protect against corrosion, the blade is coated with black Titanium Nitride, which also reduces reflections.

anti-slip handle

The handle is made of polymer and covered with a layer of rubber with an anti-slip texture. To prevent your hand from sliding onto the blade, the handle is shaped with a pronounced finger guard and a textured groove for the thumb on top. There is also a lanyard hole at the end of the handle.

sheath with flint and sharpener

The set comes with a polymer sheath with mounting holes, as well as a ceramic sharpener and flint. The design keeps the knife securely in place, while the holes allow attachment to accessories.

AUS-8 feature
AUS-8
AUS-8 is a Japanese stainless steel, equivalent to 440B steel, characterized by a good balance between corrosion resistance, ease of sharpening, and edge retention. The carbon content (0.7-0.75%) affects the hardness of the steel, while chromium (13-14.5%) provides very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. Vanadium additives (up to 0.26%) improve the homogeneity of the steel's crystal structure and increase the blade's resistance to abrasion. The steel also contains molybdenum (0.1-0.3%), manganese (0.5%), silicon (0.4-1%), and nickel (0.49%). After proper heat treatment, AUS-8 steel achieves a hardness of 58-60 HRC, making it a solid material with good cutting properties and durability. The steel is widely used in mid-range knives, mainly produced in Japan and Taiwan, such as the popular Ontario RAT 1.
Titanium Nitride (TiNite) feature
Titanium Nitride (TiNite)

Titanium Nitride (TiN, TiNite, TiNi) is an exceptionally hard and chemically inert coating made of titanium and nitrogen, applied using PVD or CVD methods. It increases the blade's resistance to abrasion, corrosion, and scratches, reduces friction, and gives it an attractive metallic finish. PVD technology is most commonly used in knives, as it does not affect the properties of the core, but only extends the durability of the surface.
