Schrade Outback Folding Knife - OD Green

A folding knife with a Drop-Point-profile blade measuring 70 mm in length, made of high-quality AUS-10 stainless steel. Designed for everyday carry (EDC), it combines a lightweight construction with solid craftsmanship, making it a tool suited for use in a variety of conditions.

Its compact form when folded makes it easy to carry, and the materials used ensure wear resistance and stability during use. The design allows for comfortable one-handed operation and maintains control over the tool during both precise and less precise tasks.

high-quality AUS-10 stainless steel

The knife blade is made of high-quality AUS-10 stainless steel. The carbon content ensures high hardness, while the chromium guarantees excellent resistance to corrosion and wear. The steel also contains manganese, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur, which affect its hardenability, impact strength, elasticity, and machinability, improving structural stability and maintaining mechanical properties.

drop-point blade profile, jimping, black oxide finish

This model features a Drop-Point blade, which has been treated with a black oxidized coating that reduces light reflections and improves resistance to external factors. The hollow grind enhances cutting performance, enabling clean and smooth cuts.

The cutting edge is partially serrated, which increases effectiveness when working with fibrous materials, such as ropes. The blade spine features jimping, which enhances control when applying pressure with the thumb.

ergonomically shaped aluminium handle

The green handle is made of aluminum, which combines low weight with good resistance to mechanical damage and wear. The material maintains adequate rigidity during use, which ensures the stability of the entire structure.

The ergonomic profile facilitates a natural hand position and improves control over the tool, even during extended use. The handle’s shape has been designed to reduce fatigue and ensure a secure grip in various working conditions.

liner lock, flipper, Nitro Assist system

The knife is opened using a flipper, which allows for quick one-handed deployment. When open, the flipper acts as a small cross guard that effectively prevents the hand from slipping onto the blade. The opening process has been streamlined through the use of the Nitro Assist opening system.

Blade stabilization is provided by the Liner Lock, which secures the blade in the open position and prevents it from accidentally closing. The mechanism’s design ensures reliable operation and comfortable handling.

spring clip, lanyard hole

The model is equipped with a spring-loaded clip that allows you to conveniently carry the knife in your pocket or as an accouterment, ensuring quick access to the tool. The clip’s design keeps the knife securely in place, minimizing movement while you’re on the move.

At the end of the handle, there is a lanyard hole that allows you to attach a safety lanyard. This feature makes it easier to carry the knife in the field.

AUS-10 feature
AUS-10
AUS-10 is a high-quality stainless steel produced by the Japanese company Aichi Steel, considered one of the best in the AUS steel series, used mainly in mid-range and high-end utility knives, produced mainly in Japan and Taiwan. The carbon content (0.95-1.1%) ensures high hardness, while chromium (13-14.5%) guarantees very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. The steel also contains manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), phosphorus (up to 0.025%), and sulfur (up to 0.025%), which affect hardenability, impact strength, elasticity, and machinability, improving structural stability and maintaining mechanical properties. After hardening, the steel achieves a hardness of 58-61 HRC, offering an excellent balance between strength, edge retention, and ease of sharpening. It is comparable to 440C steel, differing in carbon content and the addition of vanadium, which improves structural homogeneity and increases abrasion resistance.
Aluminium feature
Aluminium
Aluminum is a lightweight and durable material widely used in knife manufacturing, especially in handles and structural elements. It is characterized by low weight, high corrosion resistance, and high susceptibility to machining and anodizing, which allows for durable, aesthetic surfaces in various colors. Well-chosen aluminum alloys provide adequate rigidity while maintaining low weight, which makes knives more comfortable to carry on a daily basis. In addition, this material is weather-resistant, does not rust, and withstands intensive use well, which is why it is used in tactical knives, EDC knives, and outdoor tools.
Black Oxide feature
Black Oxide
Black Oxide is a chemical conversion process in which a thin layer of magnetite (Fe3O4) is formed on the surface of steel and other ferrous metals. It gives a black, matte appearance, reduces reflectivity, and does not affect the dimensions of the components, so it can also be used in precision parts. The coating provides limited corrosion protection, so it is usually reinforced with oil or wax. Black Oxide is used in knives, firearms, and tools. The process requirements are specified in MIL-DTL-13924, which covers processing grades, color uniformity, and corrosion resistance tests, and is the basic standard for military and technical applications.
