Schrade Slingshot Lockback Folding Knife - Tan

Folding knife with a Recurve Clip-Point blade profile, measuring 101.6 mm in length, made from high-quality AUS-10 stainless steel. The blade features a satin finish. The handle uses a Lockback locking mechanism and G10 laminate scales. Its slim, elongated design gives it a light, dynamic feel, making the blade easy to control with precision and comfortable for everyday carry.

high-quality AUS-10 stainless steel

The blade is crafted from premium AUS-10 stainless steel. The carbon content ensures high hardness, while chromium provides excellent corrosion and wear resistance. The steel also contains manganese, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur, which improve hardenability, impact strength, flexibility, and machinability, further stabilising the structure and maintaining mechanical properties.

Recurve Clip-Point blade

The blade with a Recurve Clip-Point profile enhances cutting efficiency thanks to the natural “drawing in” of material into the cutting edge, resulting in greater control, more aggressive cutting, and higher performance in field use. The blade length is 101.6 mm and its thickness is 2.8 mm. The edge is ground with a flat grind (Flat Grind), improving cutting properties and enabling clean, smooth cuts. The blade is finished with a satin finish, giving it a semi-matte appearance. Jimping has been applied on the spine to increase control when applying thumb pressure.

G10 laminate handle scales

The scales of the ergonomically shaped handle are made from durable G10 laminate in Tan, resistant to mechanical damage and external factors.

lockback mechanism, thumb hole

The knife opens using a thumb hole for quick one-handed deployment. The opening action is assisted by the Ultra-Glide system, based on ball bearings.

Blade stability is ensured by the Lockback mechanism, securing the blade in the open position and preventing accidental closure.

spring clip

Everyday carry is made easy with a spring steel clip in tip-down position, allowing quick attachment to a belt or pocket edge. The clip is mounted on the right side.

AUS-10 feature
AUS-10
AUS-10 is a high-quality stainless steel produced by the Japanese company Aichi Steel, considered one of the best in the AUS steel series, used mainly in mid-range and high-end utility knives, produced mainly in Japan and Taiwan. The carbon content (0.95-1.1%) ensures high hardness, while chromium (13-14.5%) guarantees very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. The steel also contains manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), phosphorus (up to 0.025%), and sulfur (up to 0.025%), which affect hardenability, impact strength, elasticity, and machinability, improving structural stability and maintaining mechanical properties. After hardening, the steel achieves a hardness of 58-61 HRC, offering an excellent balance between strength, edge retention, and ease of sharpening. It is comparable to 440C steel, differing in carbon content and the addition of vanadium, which improves structural homogeneity and increases abrasion resistance.
System Ultra Glide feature
System Ultra Glide
Ultra-Glide system used in Schrade knives is a ball bearing-based opening mechanism designed to ensure smooth, light, and quick one-handed blade deployment. This solution minimizes the resistance of the mechanism, making the blade movement smooth, precise, and much more pleasant than in designs without bearings. Ultra-Glide significantly facilitates knife operation by reducing the effort required to open it, making it particularly practical in EDC knives.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.
