Silky Bigboy 360-13 Folding Saw - Blue

The blue folding hand saw from the Japanese brand Silky is engineered for accurate wood cutting tasks. Equipped with a blade crafted from high-carbon SK-4 steel and a long ergonomic handle featuring a non-slip coating, the saw is ideal for both gardening and forestry operations.

SK-4 carbon steel, chrome-plated blade, locking mechanism

Featuring a 360 mm blade with fine teeth (13 teeth per 30 mm), this saw ensures efficient and comfortable handling, even when working with larger wood pieces. Constructed from robust SK-4 carbon steel, the blade boasts exceptional resistance to cracking and chipping. A chrome-coated surface shields the blade from moisture and corrosion, greatly prolonging its operational life. Outfitted with a locking mechanism, the saw allows the blade to be fixed in one of two positions, enhancing user safety both during operation and transport.

Handle made of rubber-coated material, hole for a lanyard

Featuring a long, two-handed handle in blue, ergonomically designed and constructed from durable rubberized material, this tool guarantees outstanding non-slip performance and minimized vibration during use. A hole at the end of the handle enables the attachment of a safety cord or lanyard.

Silky is a Japanese brand of hand saws, founded in 1919 in Ono by Katsuji Miyawaki. For over a hundred years, it has been considered synonymous with precision and reliability, and its saws are distinguished by their high quality. They are made of the highest quality cutlery steel, subjected to impulse hardening technology, and designed for “pull” cutting, which allows for light work and smooth cuts in wood. In 1980, the brand patented its own saw setting process, which significantly improves the sharpness of the teeth; the technology was used in models such as the 4-Retsume and Miraime2. Silky models are used by arborists, foresters, carpenters, and bushcraft enthusiasts around the world. An interesting fact is that the 1985 Silky “Gomboy” saw was the first on the market to have a rubber-coated handle, which distinguished it in the industry and earned it the prestigious Good Design Award in Japan. Thanks to the combination of Japanese craftsmanship and modern technology, Silky has been setting the highest standards in the hand saw segment for decades.

It is very sharp, fits well in the hand, and feels secure during work. The build quality is high – I thought about the purchase for a long time because the price is not low, but I do not regret this choice; I also considered buying a Fiskars saw, but I finally chose the Bigboy.

He cuts wood as if it were bread. The handle is very comfortable, working with it is very pleasant and fast – the pieces of wood fall off before you know it. The whole thing is solidly made. I recommend it!

Legendary saw, cutting with it is pure pleasure. Thick logs cut into blocks in a few minutes. The lock works reliably. The quality of workmanship makes up for the price, I recommend it.

For nearly 20 years, I used folding saws from the market and they were fine. After directly comparing the cutting of previous inventions with the Silky Bigboy 360-7, I see that it can be better. Much better. The long blade and large, widely spaced teeth do the job. The frame is made of metal along the entire length of the saw, which suggests great durability. The rubber handle is very comfortable and provides a secure grip. It may cost as much as 10 "market" saws, but in my opinion, it's better to have one Bigboy than 10 "market" saws.

This is a beast of a saw, cuts just like a gasoline one. Very well made, you can feel the quality. You have to keep in mind that it’s big, but that translates directly into out-of-this-world performance.

A saw that is the king or queen among saws. Of course, you pull it toward yourself to cut. Before your brain even thinks about getting tired, the tree as thick as your thigh is already lying on the ground. It cuts fantastically. You can easily cut thick trees—just alternate from one side to the other. It would be handy to have a case included. Still, I give it five stars, and a big plus too.

Wonderful! The saw is super solid and durable, makes you want to work with it. It's not small, but thanks to that you can cut really big logs. Cutting with it is pure pleasure. You can slice through any log very quickly and easily. Highly recommended.

A saw second to none. It’s not small, but not too big either—so you can really cut large logs with it. Cutting with it is pure pleasure. The best recommendation is that I have three other Silky saws—each different, smaller, bigger—because Silky is in a class of its own.

The saw is super solid and durable. It makes you want to work with it. It's light for its size and at the same time so sturdy that there’s hardly any chance of damaging it. It cuts and slices very quickly too.

If I had to describe this saw in one word, it would be ‘wonderful!’ I totally disagree with the opinions that it’s not suitable for cutting down trees, because I’ve cut dozens myself on my own property. Of course, that refers to trees with a circumference not exceeding fifty centimeters—you probably won’t cut down a hundred-year-old oak with it. It's perfect for cutting thicker branches, preparing firewood, tidying up a plot or garden, and many other uses. If you’re cutting close to the ground, you can set a slight offset to avoid hitting your fingers on the earth. Unfortunately, the bolt holding the blade to the handle tends to loosen, and I had to replace it once. Despite this small flaw, I’m still very impressed with this tool.

Great saw. Obviously, you can't cut trees with it, but it is absolutely suitable for smaller things. Nice matte color and a strap, which is probably meant to prevent it from slipping out of your hand if needed, make it a proper bushcraft and survival tool. I also have a solid, strong sheath for it, which protects both the saw and, so to speak, the inside of the backpack. The saw also has a safety lock for opening and closing in the form of a locking button. It cuts nicely both ways.

Great saw! Obviously, you won’t cut down trees with it, but for smaller jobs it’s absolutely perfect. Nice matte color and a strap which probably is meant to keep it from falling out of your hand—it makes it a solid bushcraft-survival tool. I also got a strong, solid case for it, which protects both the saw and, let’s say, the inside of my backpack. The saw has a safety feature for opening and closing—a closing button. It cuts well both ways.

I cut a log as thick as a human thigh with this saw, and it was extremely wet. It had rained for two weeks straight before. Maybe it didn't take just a few seconds, but still it was quick cutting. The saw doesn't wobble much while cutting. The best thing is the effect after the cut—no burrs, no splinters, and the cut surface is super smooth, as if treated with fine sandpaper. The price-to-quality ratio is simply very good.

You really want to work with this saw. It's light for its size but sturdy enough that there’s practically no way to damage it without cause. The inscriptions on the blade look nice, indicating to experts what kind of equipment this is. For me, this saw is simply fantastic. It seems big, but at the same time you can pack it into a backpack. You can cut pretty thick logs with it.

The saw is super solid and durable. It cuts quickly and efficiently—you can really do the job fast. The Japanese really make solid tools. They could have included a case, but even without it, I give five stars plus. The handle is rubber, and whether you hold it with one or both hands, it feels grippy. The blade is flexible, as with this type of saw, but the flexibility is within normal limits—it doesn’t seem likely to break from a little more bending. Maybe it’s not cheap, but the thing is: do you want quality or just some random saw? I picked quality, which is more than satisfying.
