Featuring a lightweight and compact design, this astronomical telescope boasts an 80 mm aperture and a short 400 mm focal length. Optical System
The 804AZ3 is a lens-type refractor telescope, enhanced with a doublet achromatic lens. Its optical parameters stand out as uncommon. With a 400 mm focal length matched with an 80 mm aperture, the system achieves f/5 light-gathering performance. The telescope accommodates a broad range of magnifications utilizing standard 1.25" eyepieces.
Mount
Outfitted with an AZ3 azimuthal mount, the design is robust yet maintains lightweight construction, enabling vertical and horizontal rotation for optimal terrestrial observation. Portability of the setup remains easy due to the mount’s low weight. Both axes are equipped with micro-motion controls for fine adjustments of the telescope’s viewing position.
Used together with the telescope, the mount includes mounting rings. When the rings are removed and a 1/4" adapter (optional) is added, mounting a standard camera or a spotting scope becomes possible.
Eyepiece Focuser
Equipped with a 1.25" standard eyepiece focuser, this is a Rack & Pinion variant. The focuser terminates in a bracket with a locking screw for securing a diagonal mirror. Included in the package is a diagonal mirror with a 45 deg. prismatic angle in standard 1.25" size. The telescope produces an upright image. The focuser remains compatible with Sky-Watcher focuser drives.
