TH-UV98 is a handheld dual-band radio transceiver with a maximum power of 10 watts. It is equipped with a DMTF keypad, a dual white-backlit LCD display, a built-in flashlight and FM radio.
A distinctive feature of the radio is Dual Watch, which means monitoring two channels. This allows two different frequencies to be monitored - priority is given to the frequency on which an incoming call appears. The TH-UV98 radio transceiver is equipped with CTCSS and DCS as well as simple encryption - scrambler.
The radio transceiver is equipped with a PTT - push-to-talk button. The radio features a Kenwood-type connector, which allows headphones with a microphone, dedicated speaker microphones or shooting hearing protectors to be connected. The device uses an antenna connector in the SMA-M standard. The radio transceiver can be programmed from the keypad or from a computer via a USB cable (not included). The TH-UV98 model is compatible with the cable from the Baofeng UV-5R and Baofeng UV-82 radio transceiver. In addition, the software is equipped with many functions that facilitate grouping and identification. The VOX function allows transmission on the radio to be activated by voice, without the need to press the PTT button.
The device is equipped with FM radio. Despite the FM radio being active, the TH-UV98 model will still monitor channels and will interrupt the FM function when an incoming call appears.
The radio has a lithium-ion rechargeable battery installed with a capacity of 3200 mAh.
Using the radio transceiver requires a permit to operate in a radiocommunication network.
