Wiley X Gravity Tactical Glasses - Smoke Grey

Wiley X glasses from the Black Ops collection are engineered for daily wear, featuring a streamlined, sporty look. As part of the Climate Control series, they ensure optimal eye protection and comfort during activities with intense airflow, such as cycling. The package includes a durable hard case with a zipper, a Facial Cavity Seals insert, a neck strap for convenient carrying, and a specialized cloth for lens maintenance.

frames made of triloid, hvp technology

Anatomically contoured frames constructed from robust Triloid nylon. Their ergonomic form ensures an optimal fit without sacrificing comfort when wearing headphones or hearing protection. Both the frames and lenses utilize HVP technology (High Velocity Protection), designed to shield the eyes from potential injuries caused by high-speed debris.

Frames feature a dedicated, detachable Facial Cavity Seals insert crafted from soft foam, delivering supplementary insulation against elements such as wind, dust, and perspiration. Rubberized temple tips enhance grip, preventing the glasses from slipping and reducing discomfort from dry eyes associated with air flow. Especially suitable for individuals experiencing dry eye syndrome.

polycarbonate lenses with t-shell coating and Captivate technology

Shatter-resistant lenses constructed from Selenite polycarbonate with Captivate technology balance the visible light spectrum to ensure more uniform light enters the eyes. Offering 15% light transmission, these lenses are further enhanced with a T-Shell coating for scratch resistance, safeguarding the surface from damage and prolonging durability. An Anti-Fog coating minimizes lens fogging. The lenses deliver reliable eye protection from harmful UVA and UVB ultraviolet rays.

Standards and certifications

  • EN.166F Standard – complies with the European regulations for safeguarding against impacts from fast-moving particles (Medium Energy Impact). According to the standard, both the frame and lenses are engineered to endure the impact of a 6 mm diameter steel ball, weighing 0.86 g, traveling at a velocity of 162 km/h.
  • ANSI Z87.1 Standard – defines the required impact resistance for both visor and frame. Testing involves exposure to both a high-mass steel object (High Mass) and a high-velocity steel ball (High Velocity), guaranteeing protection against common mechanical threats.
  • MIL-PRF-32432A – U.S. military standard detailing specifications for eyewear and goggles intended for armed forces. Encompasses ballistic protection requirements, side and fragment resistance, as well as mechanical endurance. Covers optical and performance standards such as exceptional lens clarity, absence of visual distortion, UV shielding, integration with helmets, masks, night vision compatibility, and a replaceable visor design.
  • UV Protection – the lens ensures comprehensive UVA/UVB shielding (blocking at least 99.9%).

Great sunglasses that work well for sports, driving, and even on a boat or while cycling. They also protect your eyes from the sides, and the blue Captivate lenses provide a very clear image. I found them at the best price at Military EU, so the decision to purchase was easy.

Excellent black sunglasses from Wiley X. I particularly like the Gravity series because it guarantees durability and an attractive appearance. The option to change the lenses yourself is a really huge advantage! This is a product I definitely recommend!

Nice, comfortable and durable glasses that provide a very nice image. Bought for knife fighting training as well as outdoor activities, they serve their purpose. They stay well on the head, do not fall off or pinch. I recommend them.

In general, I haven’t used them yet. After getting to know them initially, I can immediately say that the lenses are amazing. They provide pleasantly accurate color reproduction and proper sharpness, even when looking at a monitor. Compared to older glasses I bought a few years ago with lenses from the same company, there is a noticeable improvement in quality. As for the frames themselves, nice matte color. Short temples. They won’t suit everyone, but there’s an option to secure them with a strap. The glasses sit well on the head, but it seems that the strap might be useful for extra security, especially when you attach the anti-fog and anti-dust insert. Especially if someone puts these glasses on for motorcycle or bicycle rides. Overall, I recommend them. But only for a small or medium head. For a large head, I’d choose a different model, but with the lenses used here.

My old Oakley glasses are quite decent, but they’re already a good few years old. I’ve gotten somewhat bored with them, and under the pretext that they don’t look so nice anymore, they're somewhat scratched and generally out of fashion—here I smile significantly—I decided to look for some sort of replacement. The goal was to find durable sunglasses, suitable for any situation and terrain, which have polarized lenses and are well-covered from the sides to minimize distracting side glare while driving. And I must admit, when I tried on the Wiley X Gravity glasses with Captivate Polarized Grey lenses for the first time, I was stunned. It was a beautiful, sunny day. I took off my old specs and put on these Wiley's. The image was razor-sharp, a smile spread across my face, and my jaw dropped in amazement! The sky was beautifully blue, with lighter or darker clouds here and there. Here, Oakleys don't fall that far behind. But the detail visible on the ground, the quality of the trees, even single leaves, was absolutely stunning. The image so vivid, so sharp, so clearly three-dimensional that my several-year-old Oakleys didn’t stand a chance. And it’s not because they were very scratched or dirty, because they weren’t. A few years’ difference in manufacturing caused such a major leap in lens-making and coating technology that you notice it within a second of putting on these new Wiley glasses. Unfortunately, I have a big head and, even though I really like their fit, they’re a bit too tight for me (interested buyers should pay attention to the glasses’ size!), they slide off my nose, and with the Facial Cavity Seal fitted, they don’t sit snugly against my face. I don’t know how much of that is a bad design and how much is my face shape, but I do know one thing—I put the Gravity glasses in a locker and today I’m picking up another, bigger pair of Wiley’s, definitely with Captivate Polarized Grey lenses, and I’m not even waiting for the refund from the store because I want to enjoy them over the long weekend.
