    The self-locking buckle is fine - it does its job by holding the straps firmly, doesn't loosen, and really, what more could you want from it? It meets the standard.

    I like to have a spare of something I use. For a few pennies, I have extra clamp buckles for my backpack. Solidly made, hopefully they won't be needed since the ones in the backpack are identical.
