Za-Pas WZ.25 Grom Plus Kydex Stonewashed Toxic Fixed Blade Knife - Olive

WZ.25 Grom Stonewashed knife designed by Militaria.pl in consultation with soldiers and outdoor enthusiasts, and we commissioned its production to the renowned Polish manufacturer Za-Pas. It is a durable tactical knife with a 15-centimeter blade featuring a Clip-Point profile and a Full Tang construction. The knife’s main advantage is its blade made of Swedish Sleipner steel, which has undergone professional heat treatment.

The contoured G10 laminate scales with a distinct Toxic texture provide maximum control over the knife during dynamic and demanding work. The rough surface effectively eliminates the risk of slipping, ensuring a secure grip even in wet conditions, mud, or when using tactical gloves. As a result, the knife remains stable and predictable in all field conditions. The Plus version features a new, more durable Kydex sheath and an included Za-Pas Mig-Mag flint, which allows for effective fire-starting in all conditions, as well as a special notch on the blade designed for striking sparks.

Sleipner tool steel

The WZ.25 Grom Stonewashed Toxic model is made from a single piece of Sleipner tool steel developed by the Swedish Uddeholm steelworks. This steel combines exceptional wear resistance with high resistance to cracks and chipping, a difficult-to-achieve yet highly desirable combination for a knife used for heavy-duty work and combat. Additionally, this steel is significantly less prone to corrosion than typical low-alloy tool steels. The name Sleipner is derived from Norse mythology—a magical eight-legged horse ridden by Odin, the god of war and warriors.

Geometry and hardening, flat grind, cross guard, and jimping on the spine

The blade with a Clip-Point profile and a length of 146 mm has been hardened to a hardness of 59 +/-1 HRC and finished using the Stonewash method, giving a semi-matte effect. The blade is crafted with a flat grind reaching halfway up the blade's height, which, combined with a spine thickness of 4.2 mm, ensures high durability while maintaining optimal cutting properties. The reinforced tip profile significantly reduces the risk of breaking. On the spine, at the thumb rest area, there is jimping that facilitates control over the blade during cutting. The residual single-sided cross guard does not interfere during work, and together with the finger choil, it sufficiently protects the hand even during strong thrusts.

G10 laminate handle scales, Toxic texturing, lanyard hole

The handle consists of scales with an ergonomic profile, made of durable glass-epoxy G10 laminate in green color, screwed to the tang. The distinctive Toxic texture with an irregular, markedly rough pattern provides an exceptionally firm grip and a high level of control over the knife even during intensive work in challenging conditions. At the end of the handle, there is a lanyard hole that allows for attaching a safety cord.

Za-Pas Mig-Mag flint included, blade notch for striking sparks

The knife comes with a Za-Pas Mig-Mag flint that generates a large stream of sparks. The flint allows for effective fire starting, making it useful not only during camping trips and outdoor excursions but also in emergency situations. It can be used to light a gas stove, camping stove, or bonfire, serving as a source of warmth and allowing meal preparation away from home. The rod measuring 9.5 x 72 mm enables striking sparks over a much larger surface area (compared to smaller models), allowing for fire starting even up to 3000 times. During striking, sparks generated have a temperature of 3000 degrees Celsius, which, when landing on previously prepared tinder, ignite a flame even in severe frost or heavy rain.

Effective use of the flint with the knife is facilitated by a special notch placed on the blade's ricasso, shaped to fit the rod, allowing for spark generation without risking damage to the cutting edge.

Sheath made of durable Kydex with multi-position mounting

The set includes a rigid sheath made from lightweight and damage-resistant Kydex material. Holes and grommets located on each side of the sheath allow for multi-position mounting to gear. A nylon belt loop has been affixed to the sheath using a steel plate, providing high stability and durability for the entire construction. The sheath is equipped with a sturdy flint holder, allowing for safe transport of the fire source alongside the knife.

Sleipner feature
Sleipner
Sleipner is a modern Cr-Mo-V tool steel developed by the Swedish steel mill Uddeholm as an improved version of D2 steel. Its 0.9% carbon content ensures high hardness, while 7.8% chromium improves wear resistance and provides moderate corrosion protection. The steel also contains 2.5% molybdenum, 0.5% vanadium, 0.9% silicon, and 0.5% manganese, which increase structural stability, fracture resistance, hardenability, and deformation resistance. After hardening, Sleipner achieves a hardness of 60-64 HRC, while maintaining excellent resistance to chipping, high impact strength, and long-lasting edge sharpness. This steel is a popular choice in the manufacture of hunting, survival, tactical, and folding knives, where high strength and long-lasting sharpness retention are required.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Kydex feature
Kydex
Kydex is a thermoplastic, durable material commonly used in the production of knife sheaths. It is resistant to impact, scratches, and changing weather conditions, and has very low moisture absorption. The sheaths are molded directly onto the knife, which guarantees a perfect fit, high durability, and complete safety—the blade remains securely in place even during dynamic movements. Due to its durability and customization options, Kydex has gained popularity in the tactical and survival industries. Sheaths are often equipped with additional mounting holes with metal eyelets, which increase their durability and allow for easy attachment of buckles, clips, or loops to a belt or harness.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.

WZ-25 Very nicely made, durable, sharp right out of the box. Worth recommending and its price. It's my first knife of this kind. I'll see how it holds up in a few years :D

The WZ-25 is my ideal long-awaited forest knife. It fits perfectly in the hand, is hefty but not clumsy. Slipner steel holds sharpness very well, and the blade itself gives you a sense of complete control during cutting and heavy-duty tasks. The handle is ergonomic and secure, even with a wet hand. The sheath is well-made and holds the knife firmly in place. This is a tool you actually want to take to the forest and use without worry that something will overwhelm it. An ideal choice for someone who needs a strong work knife – without frills, but with real functionality. I recommend it.

I definitely recommend it. A thoughtfully designed and well-made knife. Paired with the sheath, it looks like a tactical knife, but when you take it in your hand, you can't help but feel that it is a very good bushcraft or survival knife. The balance, weight, size, and shape of the blade along with the handle make the knife literally rotate by itself in your hand. The handle is perfectly finished, and when you look closely at the details of the blade (guard and jimping) along with the stonewashed finish, the Za-Pas WZ.25 knife takes on a handmade character. The ABS sheath is well-fitted and finished - no burrs or sharp edges. Of course, the biggest advantage for me is that it is fully Polish-made. It turns out that the Za-Pas WZ.25 is an excellent knife.

A very solid tactical-outdoor knife that makes a good impression right from the first contact. The WZ.25 Grom from Za-Pas stands out with its robust full tang construction and Sleipner steel, known for its high resistance to wear and damage, making it well-suited for tough work in the field. The G10 laminate handle provides a secure grip even in difficult conditions, and the balance and blade thickness make the knife suitable for both survival and typical utility tasks. The stonewashed coating further helps to mask signs of use and increases resistance to corrosion. Overall, it is a very reliable, "working" knife—focused more on durability and functionality than on gadgets.

The first thing I thought when I saw it was that it's a copy of the SRK, so I compared the two knives in the field. The advantages include greater weight and better steel, and that's about it. There are quite a few shortcomings: the sheath is of poor quality, creaks, and has gaps at the joint; the holes and their width seem randomly cut, too narrow for the straps used in molle, the loop for the belt is tiny, military belts don't fit. The only advantage is that it holds the knife well without rattling. The knife itself isn't full tang, but a skeletonized tang, there's a cut-out hole, so the construction is less durable, the handle scales are thin and slippery, so how can you work with this in a trench, in mud; they loosen during work, and overall the handle is small, not suitable for an adult man or soldier, maybe only for someone from North Korea or a girl. The jimping is uncomfortable and made too rough, really unnecessary, the guard is angular with sharp edges, the coating supposedly is abrasion-resistant until a piece chips off. And that's not just my opinion, because I let some friends compare the two knives and all chose the SRK. Fix these things and it will become a really solid knife worth its price. Fix the sheath, make the holes like in the SRK and the belt loop bigger and openable, make the knife full tang, without jimping, round off the guard on the finger side, make thicker handle scales with some pattern or grooves to improve grip, then I'd buy it even for four hundred because it'll be worth it.

The only good thing about this knife is the steel, the rest is rubbish, especially the quality of workmanship, a crooked blade, and a sloppily finished handle. I definitely do not recommend this poor product.

Great craftsmanship with precise attention to every detail, good sharpness, looks very solid and will definitely perform excellently in the field. The price is okay, it’s not a cheap knife, but it definitely belongs to the premium category.
