Za-Pas WZ.25 Grom Fixed Blade Knife - Black

The WZ.25 Grom knife, created by Militaria.pl in collaboration with military personnel and outdoor specialists, is manufactured by the esteemed Polish company Za-Pas. Engineered as a robust tactical tool, it features a 15-centimeter blade with a Clip-Point profile and a Full Tang design. A key strength of this knife is its blade, crafted from premium Swedish Sleipner steel and subjected to expert heat treatment. The handle, equipped with contoured G10 laminate scales, guarantees superior ergonomics and resilience. Included in the package is a sheath made from impact-resistant ABS plastic, suitable for belt carry, along with a versatile mounting system for gear attachment.

Sleipner tool steel

The WZ.25 Thunderer is forged from a single piece of Sleipner tool steel crafted by the renowned Swedish steel producer Uddeholm. Offering exceptional wear resistance along with outstanding toughness against cracking and chipping, Sleipner steel achieves a balance rarely found in steels intended for intensive use and combat blades. Corrosion resistance is also notably higher compared to standard low-alloy tool steels, making it particularly suitable for demanding outdoor and tactical scenarios. The name Sleipner draws inspiration from Norse mythology, referencing the legendary eight-legged steed ridden by Odin, the god of war and warriors.

Geometry and hardening, flat grind, bolster and notch on the spine

Featuring a Clip-Point blade profile with a length of 147 mm, the blade is hardened to 59 +/-1 HRC and finished with a black, textured coating to maximize corrosion resistance. The blade is flat ground halfway up, and together with the 4.3 mm thick spine, provides exceptional strength while ensuring excellent cutting performance. Thanks to a reinforced tip profile, the risk of tip breakage is greatly minimized. Strategically placed jimping (notches) on the spine offer enhanced thumb grip, enabling superior control during cutting tasks. The remaining single-sided bolster poses no hindrance to use, while the index finger groove delivers effective hand protection, even during powerful thrusts.

G10 laminate handle lining, security cord hole

A handle crafted from ergonomically contoured G10 glass-epoxy laminate scales is firmly attached to the tang with screws. The cladding's matte finish offers a reliable, non-slip grip, even when hands are wet or dirty. A lanyard hole is positioned at the end of the handle, enabling the use of a securing cord.

Strong ABS holster with multi-position attachment

The kit features a rigid holster crafted from lightweight, impact-resistant ABS plastic. Multiple holes and grommets on each side facilitate versatile mounting options to gear. A nylon belt loop, secured with a steel plate, provides exceptional stability and enhances the overall durability of the construction.

The knife gives a very good impression in terms of craftsmanship – it is solid, fits well in the hand, and works both outdoors and for heavier tasks. The blade stays sharp for a long time, and the sheath is comfortable and practical to carry. The order was processed quickly, and the product matched the description.

WZ-25 Very nicely made, durable, sharp right out of the box. Worth recommending and its price. It's my first knife of this kind. I'll see how it holds up in a few years :D

The WZ-25 is my ideal long-awaited forest knife. It fits perfectly in the hand, is hefty but not clumsy. Slipner steel holds sharpness very well, and the blade itself gives you a sense of complete control during cutting and heavy-duty tasks. The handle is ergonomic and secure, even with a wet hand. The sheath is well-made and holds the knife firmly in place. This is a tool you actually want to take to the forest and use without worry that something will overwhelm it. An ideal choice for someone who needs a strong work knife – without frills, but with real functionality. I recommend it.

I definitely recommend it. A thoughtfully designed and well-made knife. Paired with the sheath, it looks like a tactical knife, but when you take it in your hand, you can't help but feel that it is a very good bushcraft or survival knife. The balance, weight, size, and shape of the blade along with the handle make the knife literally rotate by itself in your hand. The handle is perfectly finished, and when you look closely at the details of the blade (guard and jimping) along with the stonewashed finish, the Za-Pas WZ.25 knife takes on a handmade character. The ABS sheath is well-fitted and finished - no burrs or sharp edges. Of course, the biggest advantage for me is that it is fully Polish-made. It turns out that the Za-Pas WZ.25 is an excellent knife.

A very solid tactical-outdoor knife that makes a good impression right from the first contact. The WZ.25 Grom from Za-Pas stands out with its robust full tang construction and Sleipner steel, known for its high resistance to wear and damage, making it well-suited for tough work in the field. The G10 laminate handle provides a secure grip even in difficult conditions, and the balance and blade thickness make the knife suitable for both survival and typical utility tasks. The stonewashed coating further helps to mask signs of use and increases resistance to corrosion. Overall, it is a very reliable, "working" knife—focused more on durability and functionality than on gadgets.

The first thing I thought when I saw it was that it's a copy of the SRK, so I compared the two knives in the field. The advantages include greater weight and better steel, and that's about it. There are quite a few shortcomings: the sheath is of poor quality, creaks, and has gaps at the joint; the holes and their width seem randomly cut, too narrow for the straps used in molle, the loop for the belt is tiny, military belts don't fit. The only advantage is that it holds the knife well without rattling. The knife itself isn't full tang, but a skeletonized tang, there's a cut-out hole, so the construction is less durable, the handle scales are thin and slippery, so how can you work with this in a trench, in mud; they loosen during work, and overall the handle is small, not suitable for an adult man or soldier, maybe only for someone from North Korea or a girl. The jimping is uncomfortable and made too rough, really unnecessary, the guard is angular with sharp edges, the coating supposedly is abrasion-resistant until a piece chips off. And that's not just my opinion, because I let some friends compare the two knives and all chose the SRK. Fix these things and it will become a really solid knife worth its price. Fix the sheath, make the holes like in the SRK and the belt loop bigger and openable, make the knife full tang, without jimping, round off the guard on the finger side, make thicker handle scales with some pattern or grooves to improve grip, then I'd buy it even for four hundred because it'll be worth it.

The only good thing about this knife is the steel, the rest is rubbish, especially the quality of workmanship, a crooked blade, and a sloppily finished handle. I definitely do not recommend this poor product.

Great craftsmanship with precise attention to every detail, good sharpness, looks very solid and will definitely perform excellently in the field. The price is okay, it’s not a cheap knife, but it definitely belongs to the premium category.
