The WZ.25 Grom Plus Kydex Stonewashed knife was crafted by Militaria.pl in collaboration with both military personnel and outdoor experts, and manufactured by the well-known Polish company Za-Pas. Engineered as a robust tactical knife, it features a 15-centimeter blade with a Clip-Point profile and Full Tang construction for enhanced reliability. The standout feature is the blade, produced from top-quality Swedish Sleipner steel, professionally heat-treated for superior performance. Ergonomically shaped G10 laminate scales offer a secure and sturdy grip on the handle.
The Plus version sets itself apart through a newly designed, exceptionally durable Kydex sheath, accompanied by the Za-Pas Mig-Mag flint, enabling efficient fire starting in any environment. Included as well is a dedicated cutout on the blade specifically intended for striking sparks with the flint.
The WZ.25 Grom Plus Stonewashed variant is crafted from a single piece of Sleipner tool steel engineered by the Swedish Uddeholm steelworks. Offering exceptional abrasion resistance paired with outstanding durability against cracking and chipping, this robust combination is highly sought after for tactical and heavy-duty knives. Moreover, Sleipner steel possesses significantly greater resistance to corrosion compared to standard low-alloy tool steels. Inspired by Norse mythology, the steel takes its name from the legendary eight-legged steed Sleipner, famously ridden by Odin, the god of war and warriors.
Equipped with a Clip-Point blade profile and a length of 146 mm, the blade is hardened to 59 +/-1 HRC and finished using the Stonewash technique for a semi-gloss appearance. A flat grind extending halfway up the blade paired with a thickness of 4.2 mm delivers excellent durability while preserving superior cutting functionality. The reinforced tip profile greatly minimizes the chance of tip breakage. Jimping is added on the spine for better thumb grip and enhanced blade control during use. A single-sided cross guard remains out of the way during work, while the index finger choil works together with the guard to offer reliable hand protection, even during forceful thrusts.
Scales crafted from robust G10 glass-epoxy laminate are screwed onto the tang, creating a handle with an ergonomic shape. The matte finish on the scales ensures a reliable grip, even when hands are wet or dirty. A lanyard hole is located at the base of the handle, providing an option to attach a safety cord.
Equipped with a Za-Pas Mig-Mag flint designed to produce a powerful stream of sparks, the knife ensures reliable fire starting in various conditions. The flint proves indispensable not just for camping or outdoor adventures, but also during emergencies. Whether lighting a gas burner, a portable stove, or igniting a campfire for warmth and meal preparation far from home, the tool excels. Measuring 9.5 x 72 mm, the rod provides a larger surface for sparking compared to smaller variants, offering up to 3,000 uses for fire starting. Striking the flint generates sparks reaching 3,000 degrees Celsius, which easily ignite a properly prepared fire starter, even under severe cold or heavy rainfall.
Utilizing the flint with the knife is made highly effective by a purpose-built cutout on the blade’s edge, precisely contoured to fit the rod, enabling spark generation without endangering the main cutting edge.
The set contains a rigid sheath crafted from lightweight, impact-resistant ABS material. Multiple holes and loops on both sides of the sheath provide versatile mounting options to gear. A nylon belt loop, secured to the sheath with a steel fin, ensures excellent stability and durability for the entire construction. The sheath also features a robust holder for the flint, enabling secure transport of the fire starter alongside the knife.
