IPSC is an abbreviation for International Practical Shooting Confederation. In Poland, this abbreviation is often used to refer to both the federation itself and the sport it oversees. In Poland, the term dynamic shooting is also sometimes used.
What is IPSC and what does it involve?
The origins of IPSC dynamic shooting date back to the 1930s, when the FBI was looking for more effective methods of training agents. Traditional static shooting did not adequately prepare for real situations in the field, so training with moving targets and obstacles was introduced. In IPSC, instead of static shooting at a target, the shooter must move dynamically along a specially designed track to eliminate subsequent targets.
