Boker Magnum Backpacker Folding Knife

Folding knife equipped with a blade almost 7 centimeters long with a Drop-Point profile. The blade is made from 440A steel. The knife is opened using a double-sided thumb stud, and the Liner Lock ensures safe use. The finish features wooden handle scales.

440A stainless steel

440A stainless steel used in the knife is selected with everyday use and outdoor work in mind. This material achieves a hardness of approximately 56-58 HRC, offering a good balance between corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and ease of sharpening. 440A is characterized by high resistance to moisture and rust, good impact toughness, and moderate resistance to abrasion and blunting. Thanks to the relatively fine structure of the steel, the blade can be easily and quickly re-sharpened even with basic tools.

Drop-point blade with satin finish

The blade with a Drop-Point profile has a length of 68 mm and a thickness of 2.7 mm. It features a smooth cutting edge with a flat grind. The blade is finished using a satin method, creating a semi-matte, even texture on the blade's surface and enhancing scratch resistance.

shaped, wooden handle

The handle scales are made of wood, which is distinguished by its impressive natural grain and elegant appearance. The material provides a firm grip. The ergonomically shaped handle fits well in the hand.

Convenient carrying is enabled by a springy steel clip, allowing the knife to be attached to a belt, pocket edge, or another gear element. At the end of the handle, there is a hole for a cord or lanyard.

Liner Lock, double-sided thumb stud

The knife is equipped with a classic Liner Lock that effectively secures the blade from accidental folding during use. The mechanism features a simple, durable construction and convenient operation. The blade is opened with a double-sided thumb stud.

Boker is a German knife brand with a tradition dating back to the 17th century, known for its distinctive chestnut tree logo - "Tree Brand." As early as 1830, the company was producing as many as 2,000 sabers per week, which reached European battlefields. In the 19th century, it expanded its operations to the USA, Canada, and Mexico, creating recognizable branches. Today, the main factory in Solingen specializes in handmade collector's and utility knives, also using steel recovered from historical objects, such as the battleship Tirpitz. The brand offers four lines: Boker Manufaktur Solingen, Boker Plus, Magnum, and Arbolito. Boker products are valued by collectors, uniformed services, and chefs around the world.

440A feature
440A
440A steel is a martensitic stainless steel from the 440 series, characterized by a carbon content of 0.6-0.75%. It is a steel with relatively lower hardness compared to 440B and 440C, reaching a hardness in the range of 55-57 HRC, which ensures good sharpness and resistance to chipping. The chromium content (16-18%) guarantees good corrosion resistance, especially in humid conditions. 440A steel also contains molybdenum (up to 0.75%), which increases wear resistance and improves structural stability during hardening. Manganese and silicon additives (up to 1%) improve the hardenability and strength of the material, while low phosphorus and sulfur content reduces brittleness. 440A steel is a popular choice for mid-range knives such as kitchen knives, folding knives, and EDC knives. It is a good value steel that offers optimal cutting properties and is relatively easy to sharpen. Although it does not achieve the same high hardness as 440B or 440C, its corrosion resistance and strength make it a valued choice for knives with moderate requirements.
