Boker Plus AKS-74 Spearpoint D2 Spring knife

Spring Knife from a popular series stylistically inspired by the bayonet of the Kalashnikov AKS-74 carbine. The Spear-Point profile blade is made of D2 steel, characterized by high wear resistance, and its surface is covered with a black protective coating. The handle scales in black are made of aluminum. The automatic opening mechanism is activated by a button located on the handle.

Tool Steel D2

The blade is made of tool steel D2, known for its high cutting aggressiveness and high wear resistance. With proper heat treatment, it achieves a hardness range of 57–62 HRC, ensuring long-lasting sharpness even during intensive use. While D2 steel is not fully stainless, its corrosion resistance is sufficient for daily use.

Spear-Point profile blade, black protective coating

The Spear-Point profile blade measures 85 mm in length and 3 mm in thickness and features a smooth cutting edge with a flat grind. Its geometry ensures good penetration properties while maintaining high strength. The blade's surface is covered with a black protective coating, which reduces light reflections and enhances corrosion resistance.

Aluminum scales, tip-up clip

The ergonomically shaped handle with a distinct texture is made of durable and lightweight aluminum, reminiscent of the AKS-74 carbine bayonet style. The end of the grip features a small hole for a lanyard or keyring. Comfortable everyday carry is ensured by a springy tip-up clip, allowing the knife to be attached to a belt or pocket edge.

Button-operated opening, sliding lock

The blade is opened automatically by pressing the button located on the handle, which triggers the spring release. An additional safety feature is a sliding lock on the back of the grip, near the blade's pivot point, which prevents accidental opening.

note!

Polish law does not impose any restrictions on knife opening mechanisms. Other countries may have regulations that limit or prohibit carrying knives of certain types - if you are traveling abroad with a knife, it is advisable to familiarize yourself with them.

D2
D2 is a high-carbon tool steel classified as semi-stainless, characterized by high wear resistance and the ability to maintain a thin, durable edge. It achieves a hardness of 57-62 HRC, which ensures long-lasting sharpness even with intensive use. Its chemical composition is a precisely selected combination of elements: carbon (1.4-1.6%), chromium (11-13%), molybdenum (up to 0.8%), vanadium (up to 1%), manganese (up to 1%), and silicon (up to 1%). The high carbon and chromium content ensures hardness and wear resistance, while molybdenum and vanadium improve the strength and durability of the cutting edge. Although D2 steel is not completely stainless, its corrosion resistance is sufficient to meet the requirements of most conditions of use. It is widely used in the production of mid-range and high-end knives, including handmade knives and cutting tools.

Solid blade. One star deducted because it doesn't fit very well in the hand.

Very nice opening and build quality. Fits well in the hand. The clip doesn't quite suit me, that's why the rating is 4 stars.

I ordered the 01KALS93 version also in D2 and with a high grind (this black spear point is less practical for me), but it's already disappeared from the store. Apart from the mentioned blade shape and the satin blade, screws and clip, basically the two models don't differ at all. It flips nicely, you can fold it with one hand. The clip is deep carry, but because it's quite long, it's not very discreet. Unfortunately, mine arrived poorly sharpened, but a few minutes on ceramic and it's much better.
