Boker Plus Urban Spillo Flipjoint Folding Knife

Folding EDC knife (Every Day Carry) with a blade length of 76 mm and Drop-Point profile. The blade is made of 440C stainless steel. The stainless steel handle scales are finished with a Stonewashed method. In open position, the blade is held by a Slipjoint mechanism.

440C stainless steel

The blade is made of 440C stainless steel, which is characterized by high corrosion resistance, good edge retention, and resistance to chipping. After heat treatment, it achieves a hardness level of 57–59 HRC. 440C steel is among the popular materials used in knife production.

Drop-Point profile blade, Stonewashed finish

The blade with a Drop-Point profile is 76 mm long and 2.9 mm thick. This geometry works well in outdoor and EDC applications, combining good penetration ability with high blade control. The smooth cutting edge is made with a flat grind, and the whole is finished using the Stonewashed method, which gives the surface a matte look and limits the visibility of scratches.

Stainless steel handle, steel clip

The liners of the slim handle are made of stainless steel, finished using the Stonewashed method, ensuring aesthetic consistency with the blade. The ergonomic shape and perforations provide a secure and stable grip. Everyday carrying is facilitated by a removable, springy tip-up steel clip, allowing the knife to be attached to a belt or pocket edge.

Slip Joint lock, flipper

Easy and smooth opening of the knife is ensured by the bearing-supported main axis of the blade, reducing friction, and a small flipper. In the open position, the blade is held by a Slip Joint mechanism with a ball detent, allowing for stable operation and reducing the risk of accidental closure.

440C feature
440C
440C steel is a martensitic stainless steel from the 440 series, characterized by the highest carbon content in this series, ranging from 0.95 to 1.2%. This gives it a hardness of 57-59 HRC, which ensures excellent edge retention, chipping resistance, and durability. The chromium content (16-18%) guarantees very good corrosion resistance, making 440C steel suitable for use in humid conditions. Molybdenum additives (up to 0.75%) improve abrasion resistance and structural stability during hardening. Manganese and silicon (up to 1%) increase the hardenability and overall strength of the material, while low phosphorus and sulfur content reduce brittleness. 440C steel is widely used in the manufacture of high-end knives, including kitchen knives, folding knives, and professional tactical knives. It is also popular among craftsmen who produce custom-made knives, where high material quality and wear resistance are required.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.

Slim and narrow, which makes it disappear in your pocket and is easy to carry every day. Mechanically very smooth operation, a pleasant design as well as the knife itself. I recommend it.
