Cold Steel Drop Forged Battle Ring II 52100 Fixed Blade Knife

A handy and durable knife made from a single piece of 52100 high-carbon steel, which is resistant to chipping and relatively resistant to wear. The set includes a Secure-Ex sheath, which allows you to conveniently carry the knife on your belt or attached to other pieces of gear.

52100 tool steel

The knife is made from a single piece of 52100 tool steel, which is characterized by high strength and resistance to chipping and cracking. The material used combines high impact strength with optimal wear resistance. Additionally, this steel is easy to sharpen, even in field conditions.

symmetric blade, Teflon coating

The symmetrical Spear-Point blade is 89 mm long and has a thickness of 6.5 mm. The double-edged cutting edges are coated with a gray Teflon coating, which eliminates light reflection off the steel. The double-sided cross guard, contoured into the blade, protects the hand from sliding onto the cutting edge during stronger thrusts.

handle with a ring

There is a ring at the end of the handle, which can be used to hold the knife with your index finger. This provides a more secure grip on the knife and also allows you to quickly rotate the knife and change your grip.

Secure-Ex system sheath

The sheath included in the set is made using the Secure-Ex system and attaches to a belt. Numerous holes allow the sheath to be mounted in multiple positions on your gear.

Cold Steel is a respected American brand of knives, machetes, and tactical tools, founded in 1980 in Irving, California. The company gained popularity thanks to innovative solutions such as Kraton® handles and American Tanto blades, appreciated by uniformed services and military enthusiasts. It also introduced its own steel alloys, such as San Mai III®, which provides high durability and wear resistance. Cold Steel patented the Tri-Ad™ Lock blade locking mechanism, which guarantees safe use. The brand works with respected knifemakers, including the company's founder Lynn C. Thompson and Andrew Demko, whose passion and experience contribute to the high quality of the products.

Secure-Ex feature
Secure-Ex
Secure-Ex is a system developed by Cold Steel, designed for the safe storage and convenient carrying of knives and tools. Sheaths made with this technology are lightweight, durable, and weather-resistant, making them suitable even for intensive use. They hold the knife securely in the sheath while allowing for quick and smooth draw. The system has a modular design - the sheaths can be supplemented with various fasteners, such as buckles, clips (e.g., C-Clip) or ball chains. This allows the knife to be worn on a belt, around the neck, or in other configurations, according to the user's preferences.
52100 feature
52100
52100 is an American bearing steel with a carbon content of 0.98-1.1%, valued in cutlery for its strength, resistance to chipping, and ability to maintain sharpness. The chromium content (1.3-1.6%) improves abrasion resistance and aids the hardening process. It also contains manganese (0.25-0.45%) and silicon (0.15-0.35%), which increase the strength and elasticity of the steel. After proper hardening, the steel reaches a hardness of 62-64 HRC, making it an ideal material for the production of bushcraft, survival, and hunting knives. Although it is not stainless steel and requires proper maintenance and protective coatings, its cutting properties and wear resistance make it one of the best choices among traditional carbon steels.
Teflon (PTFE) feature
Teflon (PTFE)
Teflon coating (PTFE) is a thin polymer layer applied to knife blades, which gives them non-stick properties and reduces friction during cutting. This prevents food, resin, and other sticky materials from sticking to the surface, and cutting requires less effort. Teflon also protects carbon steel from corrosion and gives the blade a dark, matte finish with anti-reflective properties. The coating does not cover the cutting edge, which allows the knife to remain sharp, although it may become scratched and gradually wear out over time.

Super full tang knife made of very solid, thick (6 mm!) tool steel, perfectly fitted, sharpened, and crafted. Suitable for any job. I really like it.
