Great knife! Expensive but worth the money. In person, when you hold it in your hand, it makes an even bigger impression. It's something between a knife and a machete. Incredibly sharp, I even tested shaving my own calf! Quite heavy, but handy despite its size. Very, very solidly made, as if custom-ordered. It's almost a shame to use it, it's too beautiful :) For now, I'm practicing opening it with one hand, which isn't easy with this size knife. The automatic opening as you pull it from your pocket is also impressive.

The black handle is constructed from G10 laminate and features a non-slip texture for secure grip. Designed by acclaimed custom knifemaker Andrew Demko in collaboration with Cold Steel president Lynn C. Thompson, the model draws inspiration from Spanish Navaja knives.
Japanese AUS-10A steel
Forged from Japanese AUS-10A steel, the blade offers exceptional durability along with excellent resistance to corrosion and wear. Following the hardening process, the blade reaches a hardness of 58-61 HRC.

AUS-10 is a high-quality stainless steel produced by the Japanese company Aichi Steel, considered one of the best in the AUS steel series, used mainly in mid-range and high-end utility knives, produced mainly in Japan and Taiwan. The carbon content (0.95-1.1%) ensures high hardness, while chromium (13-14.5%) guarantees very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. The steel also contains manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), phosphorus (up to 0.025%), and sulfur (up to 0.025%), which affect hardenability, impact strength, elasticity, and machinability, improving structural stability and maintaining mechanical properties. After hardening, the steel achieves a hardness of 58-61 HRC, offering an excellent balance between strength, edge retention, and ease of sharpening. It is comparable to 440C steel, differing in carbon content and the addition of vanadium, which improves structural homogeneity and increases abrasion resistance.

In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. Using the Espada XL brings a lot of joy, and the craftsmanship and attention to detail are stunning, making you want to carry it with you every day and take it out as often as possible. I've long wondered if owning such a marvel makes sense, and finally realized that it's made from such good materials and has so much power that you can do practically anything with it. For me, it's mainly a folding kitchen knife, which I use only for food outdoors or at friends' places. In my opinion, it's worth it!
