Cold Steel FM-1S Full Metal Atlas Clip Point CPM S35VN Folding Knife - Stonewash

A lightweight folding knife designed for everyday carry (EDC), outdoor activities, and field work. It features a Clip Point-profile blade made of CPM S35VN powder-coated steel and a Stonewash-finished titanium handle. The patented Atlas Lock ensures safe use. A double-sided thumb stud makes it easy to open the blade, and a reversible tip-up clip allows you to carry the knife comfortably on either side of your pocket.

CPM S35VN powder steel

The blade is made of American CPM S35VN powder-metal steel, which combines high durability, corrosion resistance, and the ability to retain a sharp edge for a long time. The alloy’s homogeneous structure helps produce a durable cutting edge that performs well during regular use. The steel is also relatively easy to sharpen, making it simple to keep the knife in good condition.

Stonewash-finished Clip-Point blade

The blade, featuring a Clip-Point profile, is 88.9 mm long and has a smooth cutting edge. The characteristically lowered spine creates a slender, precise tip that facilitates accurate cuts and tasks requiring good control over the blade. At the same time, the profile retains its versatile cutting properties, making it ideal for both everyday use and outdoor activities. The surface is finished with the Stonewash method, which gives the steel a matte appearance and helps minimize the visibility of minor scratches that occur during use.

Lightweight titanium handle, reversible clip

The 139.7 mm long handle is made of titanium, which combines low weight with high mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. The contoured shape ensures a secure grip and good control over the knife during use. The Stonewash finish gives the handle a matte, raw appearance and minimizes the visibility of minor scratches that occur during use. The knife is equipped with a reversible tip-up clip that can be mounted on either side of the handle. This design allows both right- and left-handed users to adjust how they carry the knife to suit their preferences.

Atlas Lock, ambidextrous thumb stud

The patented Atlas Lock mechanism is responsible for stabilizing the open blade. The lock securely holds the blade in the open position, reducing the risk of it accidentally closing during use. The mechanism’s durable construction enhances safety and allows the knife to be used for more demanding tasks. The blade is opened using a double-sided thumb stud. This allows for convenient one-handed operation for both right- and left-handed users.

Cold Steel is a respected American brand of knives, machetes, and tactical tools, founded in 1980 in Irving, California. The company gained popularity thanks to innovative solutions such as Kraton® handles and American Tanto blades, appreciated by uniformed services and military enthusiasts. It also introduced its own steel alloys, such as San Mai III®, which provides high durability and wear resistance. Cold Steel patented the Tri-Ad™ Lock blade locking mechanism, which guarantees safe use. The brand works with respected knifemakers, including the company's founder Lynn C. Thompson and Andrew Demko, whose passion and experience contribute to the high quality of the products.

Titanium feature
Titanium

A lightweight and extremely durable metal, resistant to corrosion and mechanical damage. In knives it is used in the manufacture of handles, clips or locks, making the whole structure sturdy, yet lighter than steel. In flashlights it is used for housings - it provides high resistance to impacts, scratches and weather conditions, while reducing the weight of equipment carried every day. Titanium is also hypoallergenic and bio-neutral, so it is used in travelware and eyeglass frames.

CPM S35VN feature
CPM S35VN
CPM S35VN is a stainless powder steel developed by Crucible Industries in collaboration with Chris Reeve, used in premium knives. It is an evolution of the popular S30V steel, offering a better balance between wear resistance, stainlessness, and ease of machining. Carbon (approx. 1.4%) is responsible for high hardness, while chromium (approx. 14%) gives the steel very good corrosion resistance, and vanadium (approx. 3%) extends edge life and improves cutting aggression. After hardening, it reaches 58-61 HRC, combining edge durability with fracture resistance. The steel retains its sharpness for a long time and is easy to sharpen, commonly used in EDC, outdoor, tactical, and collector's knives.
Atlas Lock feature
Atlas Lock
Atlas Lock is a modern Cold Steel lock, which in terms of durability brings folding knives closer to fixed blade models. The mechanism is based on two pins and a locking rod that distribute pressure evenly; the stop pin absorbs some of the blade's force, and the hidden spring is protected from dirt. The slider on the back of the handle allows for quick, two-way, and safe folding with one hand.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.
