Cold Steel FM-1S Full Metal Atlas CPM S35VN Folding Knife - Blackout

Lightweight folding knife designed for everyday carry (EDC), featuring a Drop-Point blade made of CPM S35VN powder steel and a black titanium handle. Safe operation is ensured by the patented Atlas Lock. The ambidextrous thumb stud makes it easy to open the blade, while the reversible tip-up clip allows for convenient carry.

CPM S35VN powder steel

The blade is crafted from American CPM S35VN powder steel, which combines excellent durability, corrosion resistance, and long-lasting sharpness. The alloy's uniform structure provides a robust cutting edge that performs well with regular use. This steel is also relatively easy to sharpen, making it simple to keep the knife in top condition.

Drop Point blade with Stonewash finish

The Drop-Point blade has a length of 88.9 mm, thickness of 3.5 mm, and a plain cutting edge. The gently sloping spine creates a strong tip and excellent control for precision cutting, gear prep, or daily outdoor tasks. The surface is finished with the Black Stonewash method, giving the steel a matte look and helping to mask minor scratches acquired during use.

Lightweight titanium handle, reversible clip

The handle measures 139.7 mm and is made of titanium, giving the knife a low weight combined with high mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. Its ergonomic shape ensures a secure grip, while the dark finish enhances the modern, minimalist design.

The knife is equipped with a reversible tip-up clip which can be attached to either side of the handle. This feature allows users to configure carry options according to left- or right-handed preferences.

Atlas Lock, ambidextrous thumb stud

The patented Atlas Lock mechanism secures the open blade in place. This lock keeps the blade firmly in the work position, reducing the risk of accidental closure during heavy-duty use. The robust mechanism design increases user safety and lets you confidently use the knife’s full length.

The blade is opened using an ambidextrous thumb stud, allowing for comfortable one-handed operation by both right- and left-handed users.

Cold Steel is a respected American brand of knives, machetes, and tactical tools, founded in 1980 in Irving, California. The company gained popularity thanks to innovative solutions such as Kraton® handles and American Tanto blades, appreciated by uniformed services and military enthusiasts. It also introduced its own steel alloys, such as San Mai III®, which provides high durability and wear resistance. Cold Steel patented the Tri-Ad™ Lock blade locking mechanism, which guarantees safe use. The brand works with respected knifemakers, including the company's founder Lynn C. Thompson and Andrew Demko, whose passion and experience contribute to the high quality of the products.

Titanium feature
Titanium

A lightweight and extremely durable metal, resistant to corrosion and mechanical damage. In knives it is used in the manufacture of handles, clips or locks, making the whole structure sturdy, yet lighter than steel. In flashlights it is used for housings - it provides high resistance to impacts, scratches and weather conditions, while reducing the weight of equipment carried every day. Titanium is also hypoallergenic and bio-neutral, so it is used in travelware and eyeglass frames.

CPM S35VN feature
CPM S35VN
CPM S35VN is a stainless powder steel developed by Crucible Industries in collaboration with Chris Reeve, used in premium knives. It is an evolution of the popular S30V steel, offering a better balance between wear resistance, stainlessness, and ease of machining. Carbon (approx. 1.4%) is responsible for high hardness, while chromium (approx. 14%) gives the steel very good corrosion resistance, and vanadium (approx. 3%) extends edge life and improves cutting aggression. After hardening, it reaches 58-61 HRC, combining edge durability with fracture resistance. The steel retains its sharpness for a long time and is easy to sharpen, commonly used in EDC, outdoor, tactical, and collector's knives.
Atlas Lock feature
Atlas Lock
Atlas Lock is a modern Cold Steel lock, which in terms of durability brings folding knives closer to fixed blade models. The mechanism is based on two pins and a locking rod that distribute pressure evenly; the stop pin absorbs some of the blade's force, and the hidden spring is protected from dirt. The slider on the back of the handle allows for quick, two-way, and safe folding with one hand.
Blackwash feature
Blackwash
Blackwash is a finish that combines oxidation (graphite-black shade of steel) with the Stonewash technique. The blade is first coated with black and then treated in a drum with abrasive. This creates an aging effect - a dark background with lighter abrasions and micro-scratches. This gives the knife a raw, “used” look, masks scratches well, reduces light reflections, and works well in tactical knives. Thanks to its combination of practicality and aesthetics, Blackwash is popular in EDC, outdoor, and combat knives.
