Cold Steel Rajah III AUS-10A folding knife

Developed in partnership with knifemaker Andrew Demko, this folding knife features a blade with a Recurve Kukri profile crafted from Japanese AUS-10A stainless steel. Engineered with a high flat grind, the blade displays a rugged Stonewash finish. The handle, constructed from Griv-Ex glass-nylon composite, offers a secure, non-slip grip in black. Outfitted with a double-sided thumb disk on the blade and secured by the Tri-Ad Lock mechanism when open. For convenient carry, a springy clip is integrated into the handle.

AUS-10A stainless steel

Forged from Japanese AUS-10A steel, the blade boasts impressive durability along with excellent resistance to both corrosion and wear. Upon hardening, it reaches a hardness level of 58-61 HRC.

Recurve Kukri blade with Stonewash finish

Featuring a blade with a Recurve Kukri profile, this knife offers a length of 89 mm and a thickness of 4 mm. Engineered with a high flat grind, the blade is finished using the Stonewash technique, creating a matte surface that reduces glare and enhances resistance to scratches.

Non-slip handle made from Griv-Ex composite

Rugged Griv-Ex composite handle scales deliver a reliable, secure hold due to their non-slip surface. Enhanced finger grooves offer superior tool control, even when hands are wet or dirty. Everyday carry comfort comes from a springy clip attached to the handle, making it easy to secure the knife to a belt or pocket edge. The clip can be reversed to suit both right and left-handed users. A dedicated hole at the handle’s end accommodates a lanyard or safety cord for added versatility.

Tri-Ad lock, thumb disk

The renowned Tri-Ad Lock stands at the forefront of user safety, recognized as one of the toughest and most dependable locking systems found in folding knives. Incorporating a stop pin positioned to absorb the force from the blade, the system efficiently channels stress into the handle, significantly minimizing strain on the lock components. Thanks to its self-adjusting design, operational integrity is preserved over extended use. A dedicated thumb disk placed on the blade enables ambidextrous opening as well as rapid deployment by catching the edge of the pocket.

AUS-10 feature
AUS-10
AUS-10 is a high-quality stainless steel produced by the Japanese company Aichi Steel, considered one of the best in the AUS steel series, used mainly in mid-range and high-end utility knives, produced mainly in Japan and Taiwan. The carbon content (0.95-1.1%) ensures high hardness, while chromium (13-14.5%) guarantees very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. The steel also contains manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), phosphorus (up to 0.025%), and sulfur (up to 0.025%), which affect hardenability, impact strength, elasticity, and machinability, improving structural stability and maintaining mechanical properties. After hardening, the steel achieves a hardness of 58-61 HRC, offering an excellent balance between strength, edge retention, and ease of sharpening. It is comparable to 440C steel, differing in carbon content and the addition of vanadium, which improves structural homogeneity and increases abrasion resistance.
Tri-Ad Lock feature
Tri-Ad Lock
Tri-Ad Lock is a lock developed by Cold Steel and Andrew Demko, considered one of the strongest systems in folding knives. Its key element is a stop pin, which takes the pressure from the blade and distributes it to the handle, protecting the lock from wear and overload. The mechanism is designed to self-adjust over time, which maintains the reliability of the lock even after prolonged use. In tests, it has proven resistant to loads of up to hundreds of pounds, confirming its durability.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.
Griv-Ex feature
Griv-Ex
Griv-Ex is a durable glass-nylon composite reinforced with fiberglass used by Cold Steel, mainly for the production of knife handles, and in some models also for blade components. The material has a textured surface on the handles, which ensures a secure, non-slip grip, and its maintenance usually boils down to simple washing under running water. Griv-Ex is distinguished by its resistance to moisture, corrosion, mechanical damage, and extreme temperatures, and does not warp or crack under harsh conditions. When used in the construction of blades, it is additionally stabilized by UV rays and heat, which further increases its durability.

I received the knife as a gift from my daughter (I've wanted it for a long time). The knife quickly teaches its new owner to respect it 😉🤣. It comes extremely, extremely sharp. As soon as you hold it, you can tell you are dealing with a high-quality tool. The blade is amazing—the steel, the shape, and that grind 😍, the angle. You can simply fall in love with it. It will appeal even to the most demanding users—I recommend it.

The knife seems very durable, and the lock is very solid. It can successfully be used for somewhat heavier tasks. It's a bit difficult to sharpen due to the pronounced belly on the blade.

A true pocket beast! Successfully replaces a small axe, yet is relatively light. Excellent grip, reach, and kukri blade that needs no introduction. I use it for light gardening tasks like trimming branches, and it works very well.

If you’re wondering whether you’d even 'want to have it'... trust me on this... no matter what knives you generally like... you definitely 'would want to have the Rajah 2'..:)

Great blade, commands respect. I suspect you could easily cut down light poles with it, maybe even medium-sized trees. The rednecks from the USA did a good job.

A real beast. A knife worthy of recommendation for anyone who wants a piece of steel that fits in your pocket.

My number one when it comes to folding knives. It has replaced other knives in my pocket, such as the 4MAX, AD10, Spyderco PM2, or Fox Tracker Meskwaki. I looked at it many times on the website, but it seemed ugly, impractical, and weird to me—now I regret not buying it sooner. The reality is completely different. The knife is huge and tank-like, factory sharp enough to shave against the grain. I recommend it to anyone who likes to have a solid piece of steel for various tasks, and I will definitely buy a second one myself.

I love this knife. This is my second Cold Steel and I think I've been convinced by this brand. The Rajah is a great big folder, and I understand Mr. Thompson's philosophy that bigger is better! Maybe it’s not suitable for carrying in every situation, but this is the one that accompanies me most often. Sharp and handy. A great cutting tool whose durability lets it substitute for fixed blade knives when you don't have one at hand. Recommended.

It chops medium-thickness branches wonderfully. Very sharp from the factory.

Brilliant knife, heavy, fits great in the hand. It is comfortable and makes an impression because it is a solid piece of metal. I've tried it several times chopping logs and it hasn't dulled at all—it's also very solid and inspires trust in the Tri-Ad Lock mechanism. Of course, before buying it, I did research online and didn't find any negative reviews. This is my third product from Cold Steel, after the Hide Out and Safe Maker push knife, and as always, I am satisfied :)

Andrew Demko! A powerful knife (watch your fingers). Heavy (380g), solid, easy to operate. Excellent kukri blade (153mm long) with a high flat grind, ensuring enormous durability. Top-tier steel. Tri-Ad Lock (unbreakable), perfectly designed thumb plate (draws the knife open from your pocket!), fantastic balance (on the handle, 45mm from the blade), handle contouring allowing four secure grips and at least two reverse grips. Amazing!

Simply a monster, a folding machete, the steel is good and the thickness and size of the blade allows for a lot.
