Main compartment, multiple pockets, organizer

The spacious main compartment, equipped with a two-way YKK zipper, secures personal belongings, essential medical gear, or even a lightweight jacket. The interior features a zippered mesh pocket as well as a Velcro-attached organizer with elastic loops and three slim, flat pockets. On both sides, side wings are outfitted with MOLLE/PALS webbing for the attachment of extra equipment. A zippered pocket is positioned on the front, while the interior provides an additional pocket for storing documents. The Helikon-Tex Bandicoot supports the Versatile Insert System, enabling the integration of various types of organizers.

Velcro panel

The front-mounted Velcro panel provides a secure platform for attaching patches or emblems, such as unit insignias, national flags, or morale patches, enabling individual customization of the pack’s appearance.

Adjustable carrying strap

The load-bearing system is equipped with a fully adjustable waist strap that fastens securely with a robust Woojin buckle. The strap can be entirely detached if needed, allowing the pack to be carried on a trouser belt.

    There’s not much to say — it’s a very successful waist bag. What convinced me to buy it were the positive reviews of this item, so I’ll add my two cents here as well. I was never really a fan of wearing waist bags, but when I went to a popular music festival and was worried about keeping important items on me, I took this bag along. I wasn’t disappointed — I was very satisfied. The bag didn’t get in the way at all, and trusting the material, I carried my valuables in it every day. The bag handled the hardships of the festival and the challenges of concerts very well.

    The Helikon-Tex Possum waist pack works very well for me in everyday use as well as during short trips. Despite its small size, it easily fits my phone, wallet, keys, documents, and a few small items. A big advantage is that everything is easy to access, so there is no need to keep looking into a backpack or carry things in my pockets. Worn on the waist, it is comfortable, does not bump around, and does not get in the way while moving. The material feels durable, the zippers work smoothly, and the workmanship is careful. The black color turns out to be practical, matches most clothes well, and does not attract attention. Of course, it will not hold a larger number of items, but it is perfect for a basic everyday set of essentials. I am satisfied with it and consider this purchase a very successful one.

    Great waist bag, carefully sewn and made from very good materials. The internal organizer is practical, well designed, and can be removed if needed. My only reservation, however, is solely due to my own oversight: I did not read the technical specifications carefully enough, even though they were very detailed, and I did not pay attention to the length of the waist strap. It turned out to be too short for me. I managed by making an “extension” from Cordura recovered from another piece of equipment. Even so, since this is a unisex model, I would suggest that the manufacturer add a few centimeters to the strap so that it is easier to adjust. Without this “extension,” I would not have been able to wear it even over my shoulder across my chest. Now I also understand why an additional strap is listed among the suggested accessories on the website. Apart from this oversight of mine, everything is flawless. I definitely recommend it.

    I bought the waist bag as a second one. The first was a Pentagon Tactical Fanny in black, which was a bit too small. The Helsinki in coyote color is spacious, I like the strap which doesn’t dangle around even after adjusting. The downside is that you can't close the waist bag with one hand when the zipper is in the farthest position. In this respect, the Pentagon is better.
