The Helle Nord knife is beautifully made, classic, it has something special about it, and even though it costs a lot, it’s really worth it. So far I have had many different knives, usually 1095 steel, micarta handles, real so-called "crowbars" like the Tops SXB, but the time finally came for something really comfortable, classic, with an interesting brand history and origin. Finally, the Helle company started making full tang knives. The Nord model is just the right size—not too big, not too small, and it’s super comfortable. The fit and finish, factory sharpness, the smell of the wood, and the shape of the handle are pure poetry. Add a nice little axe, and you just want to hit the trail. I recommend it—in person, once you see it, you won’t want to part with it. The only small downside is the sheath, which could be more robust, but that’s something you can sort out yourself in the future and have it custom made.
