Hogue SIG K320A M17/M18 Drop-Point Serrated Spring knife - Coyote/Coyote Tan

The Hogue SIG Sauer folding spring knife is an EDC model designed for everyday carry and use. The blade is opened using a button or alternatively a thumb hole, and the Drop-Point profile blade is made of stainless steel CPM S30V. The handle in Coyote Tan is made of nylon 12 reinforced with fibreglass, and the knife's design is reminiscent of SIG Sauer P320 M17/M18 pistols.

stainless steel CPM S30V

The blade is made from stainless steel CPM S30V, hardened to a hardness of 58-61 HRC. The material is characterized by high resistance to abrasion and corrosion, making it well-suited for everyday use knives.

drop-point blade, partially serrated edge

The Drop-Point profile blade has a length of 89 mm and a thickness of 3.2 mm. The blade is partially serrated, which facilitates cutting ropes, straps, and textile materials. The blade's surface is finished with a Coyote-colored PVD coating, which increases the blade's resistance to scratches and corrosive factors. Jimping on the spine allows for a secure thumb rest during use.

nylon 12 handle, deep carry clip

The handle scales are made of nylon 12, reinforced with fibreglass. The material combines low weight with high durability, and the non-slip texture, identical to that used in P320 pistols, ensures a secure grip. The Deep Carry Clip can be mounted on the left or right side of the handle, allowing the knife to be carried on a belt, pocket edge, backpack, or accouterment elements, and the hole at the end of the handle allows for the threading of a lanyard.

Plunge Lock

The safety of use is ensured by the Plunge Lock, supported by a slide lock to prevent accidental blade opening. The knife opens automatically with a button located on the handle. An alternative opening method is a convenient thumb hole.

CPM S30V feature
CPM S30V
CPM S30V is a powder stainless steel developed by Crucible Industries in collaboration with knifemaker Chris Reeve. It is distinguished by its precisely selected formula, containing carbon, chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium. The carbon content is approximately 1.45%, which ensures high hardness and long-lasting sharpness. Chromium (approximately 14%) is responsible for very good corrosion resistance, which makes S30V steel suitable for use in various, even difficult environments. Additions of molybdenum (approximately 2%) and vanadium (approximately 4%) increase the steel's wear resistance and improve its strength. As a result, CPM S30V provides an optimal balance between hardness, strength, and corrosion resistance, making it an ideal choice for the production of high-quality knives. After heat treatment, the steel achieves a hardness of 58-61 HRC, which is crucial for maintaining a sharp edge and resistance to deformation under stress.
Plunge Lock feature
Plunge Lock
Plunge Lock (also known as Button Lock) is a locking mechanism based on a spring button. When opened, the tang enters a notch at the base of the blade, securely locking it in the working position, and when closed, it acts as a detent, holding the blade in the handle. The system allows for quick and convenient one-handed opening and closing, while increasing safety as the fingers do not come into contact with the blade edge. It is valued for its simple operation, smooth functioning, and popularity in EDC and collector's knives.
PVD - Physical Vapor Deposition feature
PVD - Physical Vapor Deposition
PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating is a modern technology for applying ultra-thin layers of metal in a vacuum, which significantly increases the durability of knives. Thanks to this, the blade becomes highly resistant to scratches, abrasion, and corrosion, while gaining a matte surface that reduces glare. This process allows for aesthetic finishes in various colors, from deep black to gold, which do not wear off like classic paint. As a result, the knife retains its great appearance and full functionality even with intensive use.
