Ka-Bar Dozier Folding Hunter Knife

Folding knife with a total length of 184 mm, featuring a 76 mm Drop-Point profile blade made of AUS-8A stainless steel, which offers optimal durability, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. The blade is finished using the satin method. The handle employs a Back Lock mechanism and scales made of damage-resistant plastic Zytel in black. The knife's design is credited to the USA-based knifemaker Bob Dozier.

stainless steel AUS-8A

AUS-8A is a stainless steel that, after proper heat treatment, offers a favorable balance between hardness, chipping resistance, and ease of resharpening. It is characterized by corrosion resistance, with the addition of molybdenum and vanadium enhancing hardenability and edge stability during everyday use. Hardened to a range of 56-58 HRC.

Drop-Point profile blade, hollow grind

Blade with a Drop-Point profile, designed for maximum blade tip strength. This profile is particularly effective in outdoor and EDC applications, where a combination of high piercing ability and optimal blade control is required. Jimping (grooves) is placed on the spine of the blade, allowing a secure thumb rest and increasing control over the blade during cutting.

The model features a hollow grind, ensuring high cutting efficiency. The blade is finished with the satin method, reducing light reflections.

Zytel handle, spring steel clip

The ergonomically shaped handle scales are made of damage-resistant Zytel in black. Comfortable everyday carrying is provided by a spring steel clip in the tip-up position, allowing easy attachment of the knife to a belt or pocket edge. The clip is mounted on the right side with the option to switch to the left. At the end of the handle, there is a lanyard hole, allowing for the attachment of a safety cord.

double-sided thumb stud, Back Lock mechanism

A double-sided thumb stud is placed on the blade, allowing for easy opening with the thumb, whether using the right or left hand. The blade is secured in the open position by a Back Lock mechanism. This is currently one of the most stable and robust locks available for folding knives. Additionally, this lock effectively secures the folded knife against accidental opening.

Ka-Bar

Militaria.pl is a premium dealer of Ka-Bar.

Ka-Bar is a brand whose history dates back to the late 19th century, and which gained real fame during World War II, when the Fighting Utility model was officially adopted by the US Marine Corps. The durable and versatile knife quickly became legendary, proving itself both in combat and in the daily tasks of soldiers. The name Ka-Bar itself comes from the 1920s, when a trapper described in a letter how he managed to “kill a bear” with a Union Cutlery knife. In 1952, wanting to emphasize the power of this symbol, the company officially changed its name to Ka-Bar Knives Inc., and its products are still considered a model of reliability today. An important chapter in the brand's history is also its collaboration with Ethan Becker, which resulted in the Becker series, highly valued by users, combining practical solutions with a modern approach to knife design.

AUS-8A feature
AUS-8A
AUS-8A is a Japanese stainless steel, equivalent to 440B steel, characterized by a good balance between corrosion resistance, ease of sharpening, and edge retention. The carbon content (0.7-0.75%) affects the hardness of the steel, while chromium (13-14.5%) provides very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. Vanadium additives (up to 0.26%) improve the homogeneity of the steel's crystal structure and increase the blade's resistance to abrasion. The steel also contains molybdenum (0.1-0.3%), manganese (0.5%), silicon (0.4-1%), and nickel (0.49%). After proper heat treatment, AUS-8 steel achieves a hardness of 58-60 HRC, making it a solid material with good cutting properties and durability. The steel is widely used in mid-range knives, mainly produced in Japan and Taiwan, such as the popular Ontario RAT 1.
Zytel feature
Zytel
Zytel is a glass fiber reinforced nylon, mainly used for the production of knife handles. It is manufactured using injection molding, which allows for easy forming of durable components. This material is lightweight, durable, resistant to abrasion, cracking, temperature, and moisture, and provides a secure grip thanks to its non-slip surface structure. Zytel can be more or less flexible depending on the glass fiber content. Due to its durability and performance characteristics, it is popular in bushcraft and tactical knives.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.

I've had the knife for over a year and I am very satisfied with it. The blade holds sharpness well, and thanks to the handle, the knife is light and I don’t feel it while carrying, and at the same time it doesn't feel like anything will break. I recommend it.

Small, more for the city than the wilderness. Any pocket knife from company "V" has similar capabilities.

Light, fits well in the hand. Looks nice if that matters to someone ;) Initially hard to open, but that's just a matter of time and it will break in. I recommend it.
