Ka-Bar Short Becker Drop Point BK16 Fixed Blade Knife

Knife with a total length of 235 mm and a Full Tang construction, meaning the tang of the blade extends throughout the entire handle. The blade is 111 mm long with a Drop-Point profile made from 1095 Cro-Van tool steel. The blade is produced with a flat grind. The blade is coated in a matte black finish to protect against corrosion and reduce glare. The handle scales are made from durable Ultramid in black, resistant to mechanical damage and external factors. Included in the set is a sheath made from durable polyester in Tan color, as well as interchangeable handle scales in Coyote Brown.

This model was developed in collaboration with Ethan Becker. Ka-Bar has been manufacturing this collection since 2009.

1095 Cro-Van tool steel

1095 Cro-Van tool steel is distinguished by its high resistance to chipping, making it well-suited for knives intended for heavy-duty fieldwork. The addition of chrome and vanadium enhances hardenability, cutting edge stability, and wear resistance compared to traditional 1095 steel. This material is easy to resharpen, and with regular maintenance, provides excellent edge durability. The steel is hardened to a range of 56-58 HRC.

blade with Drop-Point profile, flat grind

The blade 111 mm length and 4.2 mm thickness has a Drop-Point profile, designed for maximum tip strength. This profile is particularly suitable for outdoor and EDC applications, where a combination of high penetration capability and optimal blade control is required. The spine of the blade features jimping (texturing) for secure thumb support and increased blade control during cuts.

This model uses a flat grind, providing increased resistance to damage while maintaining good cutting properties. The blade surface is coated with a matte black finish that eliminates light reflections and protects the steel from external factors.

Ultramid handle scales

The handle scales are made from Ultramid, a durable construction polyamide resistant to impacts, abrasion, and varying field conditions. The material ensures a rigid, stable grip structure, and the handle profiling improves knife control during intensive work. Additionally, the handle is equipped with a steel cross guard to protect the hand from slipping onto the blade. The end of the handle features a lanyard hole, allowing for secure cord attachment.

Plastic sheath

The set includes a Tan-colored sheath made from durable polyester, internally reinforced with Kydex material, providing additional stability. The design allows for secure strapping to a belt or gear, making it suitable for field and tactical use. A small sewn pocket allows for carrying additional small items.

Militaria.pl is a premium dealer of Ka-Bar.

Ka-Bar is a brand whose history dates back to the late 19th century, and which gained real fame during World War II, when the Fighting Utility model was officially adopted by the US Marine Corps. The durable and versatile knife quickly became legendary, proving itself both in combat and in the daily tasks of soldiers. The name Ka-Bar itself comes from the 1920s, when a trapper described in a letter how he managed to “kill a bear” with a Union Cutlery knife. In 1952, wanting to emphasize the power of this symbol, the company officially changed its name to Ka-Bar Knives Inc., and its products are still considered a model of reliability today. An important chapter in the brand's history is also its collaboration with Ethan Becker, which resulted in the Becker series, highly valued by users, combining practical solutions with a modern approach to knife design.

1095 Cro-Van feature
1095 Cro-Van
1095 Cro-Van steel is an improved version of classic 1095 steel, with increased wear resistance and improved edge durability. Its carbon content of 0.95-1.1% gives it high hardness (58-60 HRC), making it ideal for the production of survival, tactical, and outdoor knives. The steel also contains chromium (0.4-0.6%), molybdenum (up to 0.06%), vanadium (0.15-0.25%), manganese (0.3-0.5%), and silicon (0.15-0.25%), which contribute to its abrasion resistance and improved edge stability. Although it has low corrosion resistance, it requires proper maintenance in humid environments. Thanks to its optimal combination of hardness, blade durability, and moderate corrosion resistance, it is a popular choice among enthusiasts of knives for intensive use.
Kydex feature
Kydex
Kydex is a thermoplastic, durable material commonly used in the production of knife sheaths. It is resistant to impact, scratches, and changing weather conditions, and has very low moisture absorption. The sheaths are molded directly onto the knife, which guarantees a perfect fit, high durability, and complete safety—the blade remains securely in place even during dynamic movements. Due to its durability and customization options, Kydex has gained popularity in the tactical and survival industries. Sheaths are often equipped with additional mounting holes with metal eyelets, which increase their durability and allow for easy attachment of buckles, clips, or loops to a belt or harness.
Ultramid feature
Ultramid
Knives with handles made of Ultramid are lightweight, highly durable, and dimensionally stable even under intensive use. This polyamide from BASF is resistant to impact, abrasion, chemicals, and temperature fluctuations. Available in versions modified with glass fiber, carbon fiber, or mineral additives, it provides even greater rigidity and heat resistance. Thanks to its injection molding and machining capabilities, it allows for the precise manufacture of handles with a secure grip, durable fastening of metal elements, and an aesthetic finish.

Product is as described. Good knife. Carbon blade that needs attention otherwise will rust. Crappy sheath. Would buy again.

One of the more successful Ka-Bar knives.

An average camp knife with a perfectly contoured handle, it will work in any conditions without taking up much space.

In my humble opinion, one of the best, most versatile survival knives. Perfect length and excellently shaped handles, an amazing sheath with lots of mounting options, good steel that is easy to sharpen, and a solid black coating. The knife is light and very handy to use. After swapping to brown handles, it looks even better. My only concerns are the price and the coating, which is a bit rough (looks like 'stucco' on plaster), so it’s not perfectly smooth like, for example, on Schrade knives, but that's a minor detail :)
