420HC is a high-carbon version of 420 stainless steel, containing 0.4-0.5% carbon and 12-14% chromium. Thanks to its higher carbon content, it achieves higher hardness (55-57 HRC) and better cutting properties than standard 420 steel, making it ideal for the production of outdoor, hunting, and everyday knives. The steel is characterized by very good corrosion resistance, high fracture toughness, and ease of sharpening, which increases its versatility. It is a material with a favorable price-quality ratio, making it a popular choice for mid-range knives. With proper heat treatment, 420HC can achieve properties comparable to AUS6 steel, but at a more affordable price.

420 is a martensitic stainless steel often used in cutlery, especially in kitchen knives, EDC, and budget outdoor models. It is characterized by a relatively low carbon content (0.16-0.25%), which allows for a hardness range of 54-57 HRC, ensuring easy sharpening and resistance to chipping. Chromium (12-14%) provides good corrosion resistance, making the steel suitable for use in humid conditions. Silicon and manganese additives (up to 1%) improve strength and hardenability, while low sulfur and phosphorus content reduce the brittleness of the material. 420 steel is valued for its high corrosion resistance, relatively high impact strength (resistance to cracks and chipping), and low processing costs. Its matte, non-reflective finish, available in a variety of colors, makes it a popular choice for tactical and outdoor knives. The coating is resistant to impact, chipping, and abrasion, effectively protecting the steel in demanding conditions. In corrosion tests (Salt Spray ASTM B-117), it retains its properties for thousands of hours, protecting the blade from rust and oxidation. It is also resistant to chemicals, including cleaning agents and solvents.

    I have this model and I bought a bit set for it (I put it on the Phillips screwdriver). In this combination, it's probably the best Leatherman option—saw, file, plus a set of bits, and of course pliers with an interchangeable cutter; for me, it's awesome.

    This is another Leatherman I've had after losing the previous one. The old one paved the way and showed which tools I really needed, so I chose the Rebar. The multitool feels very comfortable in the hand. If you're looking for a real work multitool, then this is the Rebar. If you want a pretty multitool that's less durable, then it's the Wave Plus. I was also happy that the salespeople in the store spoke English well and were able to provide me with detailed information

    Leatherman Rebar Multitool It is made from sheet metal, not from forging or casting like some other multitools from this company, which makes it a bit lighter. It only has a few tools, but that's exactly what I was looking for. The pliers do not have a spring and do not spring back. The side tools, like the can opener, are a bit hard to open. I use it for tourism purposes.

    Very interesting color scheme, it convinces me more than the standard raw metal. The coating on the handles is very durable. It can get minor scratches, but nothing serious. The black coating on the tools initially stains your hands. It doesn't wear off to bare steel, but after buying it's worth immediately wiping all black elements with a damp cloth. The tool's size makes it quite comfortable in the hand. The arms are rather stiff at first. Over time they loosen up, but don't develop excessive play. The pliers are nothing special, they do their job well. The wire cutter is also fine, but attempts to cut something thicker/stronger like a nail may damage the blade. As for the tools in the arms, both the smooth and serrated knives are sharp straight from the factory and keep their sharpness. The saw works well for small woodworking jobs. The file works very well. As for the remaining tools, like screwdrivers or opener, let's be honest, there's not much philosophy behind them. They're there and they work. The tool locks are flawless. Overall, highly recommended.

    A fairly small multitool but it has everything you need. It's a bit awkward to open. The lock is very useful. The standard price seems to be quite high to me, but in a promotion it becomes acceptable. I recommend it.
