The glasses are very well made, very light and comfortable, not too dark so they can be worn even on less sunny days, for me they are great. The price is a bit scary but I think they are worth their price.
Wiley X Founder Glasses - Captivate Polarized Green Mirror/Matte Graphite
Ergonomically designed protective eyewear in color Captivate Polarized Green Mirror/Matte Graphite features a spacious rectangular frame, suitable for accommodating large prescription lenses. The lenses’ robust mechanical strength safeguards the eyes from flying debris, ricochets, and other impacts, conforming to class F standards (providing protection against objects weighing 0.86 g traveling at a velocity of 45 m/s).
Wiley X stands as a premier provider of eye protection solutions for the United States military, athletes, and those leading an active outdoor lifestyle.
frames with triloid, HVP technology
Frames with an anatomical profile crafted from robust Triloid nylon deliver exceptional durability. Their contoured design offers an optimal fit without compromising comfort, even during the use of headphones or hearing protectors. Non-slip rubber temple ends and nose pads maintain a secure placement on the face during movement. HVP technology (High Velocity Protection) is used in manufacturing both the frames and lenses, delivering reliable eye protection from injuries caused by high-speed particles. Removable, rotatable side shields add extra lateral protection against objects approaching from areas not covered by the main visor.
polycarbonate lenses with T-Shell coating and Captivate technology
Green lenses crafted from impact-resistant Selenite polycarbonate ensure 12% light transmission. Enhanced with a durable, scratch-resistant T-Shell coating, the lenses gain superior protection against abrasions, effectively increasing their service life. Ideal choice for outdoor operations in intense sunlight and bright environments.
Polarized lenses using advanced Captivate technology safeguard eyes against harmful UVA and UVB rays. An oleophobic coating repels dust, dirt, oil, snow, and water, keeping the lens surface clean and clear.
Standards and certifications
- EN.166F—compliant with the European standard for defense against medium energy impacts from rapidly moving particles. In accordance with these requirements, both the frame and visors are able to withstand a steel ball measuring 6 mm in diameter and weighing 0.86 g, striking at a velocity of 162 km/h.
- ANSI Z87.1—specifies the impact resistance criteria for visor and frame. Testing encompasses both resistance to a high mass steel object (High Mass) and a steel ball at high velocity (High Velocity), confirming durability against common mechanical threats.
- UV Protection—visor guarantees complete shielding from UVA and UVB rays, ensuring a minimum of 99.9% blockage.

Selenite visors are made of unbreakable polycarbonate, which provides high visual clarity and UV protection.
T-Shell is a coating on Wiley X glasses that resists scratches, protects lenses from damage and extends their life.
Captivate lens technology is an advanced filter system used in sunglasses that aims to improve the quality of vision by filtering out harmful light and improving color perception and contrast.
The Oleophobic coating repels dirt, oil, water and other substances, so the lenses stay cleaner and easier to maintain. The technology makes the lenses more durable and comfortable to wear.
Z87.1 standard developed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for the durability of eye protectors. The standard includes two types of tests (3 tests) for the impact resistance of the lens and the stability of its seating in the frame: resistance to High Mass and High Velocity objects.
EN166F is the European standard for protection against the impact of accelerated objects (Medium Energy Impact). Class F mechanical strength means that, according to the standard, the frame and visors of the glasses will withstand the impact of a steel BBs with a diameter of 6 mm and a weight of 0.86 g, traveling at 45 m/s (162 km/h).
