Benchmade Mini Bugout CPM-S90V Folding Knife - Black Carbon Fiber

A robust yet lightweight folding knife crafted for reliable everyday EDC (Every Day Carry), featuring a double-sided thumb stud for swift deployment. The Drop-Point blade utilizes high-quality CPM-S90V stainless steel with a satin finish, ensuring excellent corrosion resistance and enduring sharpness. A carbon fiber handle in black color offers a secure and comfortable grip, complemented by a reversible mini deep-carry clip for effortless daily carry.

Satin drop-point blade made of CPM-S90V powder steel,

Engineered with a Drop-Point blade, this knife utilizes premium CPM-S90V stainless steel crafted through advanced powder metallurgy. The steel is heat-treated to a hardness of 59-61 HRC, delivering excellent corrosion resistance, outstanding edge retention, ease of sharpening, and enhanced protection against chipping. Finished with a satin surface, the blade offers a semi-matte appearance that helps minimize unwanted reflections in various scenarios.

Ergonomic carbon fiber grip

A steel frame forms the core of the handle, complemented by carbon fiber scales that deliver a secure grip thanks to their rugged texture. Positioned at the end of the ergonomically contoured handle is a generously sized lanyard or keychain hole. Blade deployment is facilitated by a double-sided thumb stud. For comfortable daily carry, a robust mini deep-carry clip is fitted to the handle, enabling the knife to be securely attached to a belt or pocket edge. The clip offers reversibility and can be installed in a tip-up orientation, accommodating both right- and left-handed users.

Durable Axis Lock

Engineered for heavy-duty performance, the highly durable and impact-resistant sliding lock mechanism Axis Lock effectively secures the tool, preventing both premature closure and unintentional deployment during transport.

Benchmade Knife Company is an American brand founded in 1988 by Les de Asis in Oregon, with roots dating back to the 1970s when it operated as Bali-Song. The company became famous for producing folding and combat knives, and its butterfly logo refers to the first balisong models, which were awarded the title of Knife of the Year in 1979. Today, Benchmade manufactures knives in three lines: Blue Class, Black Class, and Gold Class, using modern powder steels such as S30V, M390, and CPM-20CV, and the patented Axis Lock, valued for its reliability and smooth operation. Among the brand's icons are the Griptilian, Bugout, 940 Osborne, Infidel, and Bushcrafter models, and the company regularly collaborates with renowned knifemakers such as Mel Pardue, Warren Osborne, and Ernest Emerson. Benchmade was the first knife manufacturer in the US to implement fully automated CNC production, achieving unprecedented precision and repeatability in the industry.

CPM S90V feature
CPM S90V
CPM S90V is a premium powder metallurgy tool steel developed by Crucible Industries. It is characterized by a very high carbon content (2.3%) and chromium content (14%), which ensures high hardness and very good corrosion resistance. This steel also contains molybdenum (1%), vanadium (9%), and niobium (0.5%). After appropriate heat treatment, CPM S90V achieves a hardness of 58-61 HRC, which guarantees long-lasting edge sharpness, wear resistance, and resistance to high temperatures. Thanks to its high vanadium content, this steel forms hard carbides that extend edge durability, and its microstructure ensures uniform properties throughout the cross-section. It is one of the best materials for applications where extreme edge durability and damage resistance are required.
Axis-Lock feature
Axis-Lock
Axis-Lock is a folding knife locking mechanism patented by Bill McHenry and Jason Williams, popularized and licensed by Benchmade. A spring steel bar (crossbar) slides transversely between the scales and fits into a recess on the back of the blade, firmly locking it in the open position. The mechanism works thanks to two omega springs that press the bar into the lock, ensuring smooth, two-handed operation and no play. To close the knife, simply slide the bar toward the rear of the handle and release the catch, allowing you to safely fold the blade without risking contact between your fingers and the blade.
Carbon Fiber feature
Carbon Fiber
Carbon fiber is a composite material that is exceptionally light and very strong, considered one of the most advanced materials used in knife manufacturing. It is made of thin carbon fibers embedded in epoxy resin, which are then pressed and hardened to form an extremely rigid and resistant structure. Used in knife handles, it provides high resistance to mechanical damage, is not affected by moisture or extreme temperatures, and is chemically inert and non-conductive. It is distinguished by its characteristic layered weave, which gives each handle a unique appearance, particularly valued in premium knives.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.

Great knife, I enjoyed it for 3 years and unfortunately the springs broke. You don't feel it in your pocket, but now it sits in a drawer. I don't recommend it for long-term use.

Plastic is not all the same, these are definitely the best plastic handles you can get on a Bugout, indeed stiffer and less flexible than the standard ones. The Bugout itself is great as always, and this all-black version looks awesome.

One of the best-made "Bogusi" I have ever had in my hands. Compared to the classic ones with plastic handles, this one really feels premium; the stiffness of the handles makes the knife feel different from a standard Bugout. I recommend it to every Bugout fan.

In person, it is smaller than in the photos – the model is very compact, which makes it phenomenally easy to carry and use. I prefer the variants that don't have a composite handle, however, every one of them is worth recommending.

Great knife. Other Bugouts with plastic handles seem too delicate. This one is made of aluminum and is fine. The ideal EDC knife, lightweight, unobtrusive, with a small and barely visible clip. You don't feel it in your pocket.

The knife is very light. Despite its small size, it has a good, secure grip. It does not slip in gloves. The handle color is lighter than in the photos. Perfect for everyday carry. I definitely recommend it.

If you care about a small and lightweight knife for everyday carry, it's hard to find a better choice. A great little one, and in this color version it looks fantastic. The white scale sometimes gets dirty and requires a bit more frequent cleaning, which you should keep in mind when choosing.

Great knife, brilliant steel. The deep carry clip is definitely a plus. You hardly feel it in your pocket. I highly recommend it, another successful purchase.

The knife comes nicely packaged and very sharp. The handle is more durable than it seems and the blade stays sharp for a long time. The price is high and probably a bit exaggerated. The knife is perfect for EDC. It is very lightweight and unnoticeable in the pocket. The lock works well. It's worth keeping it in the included case. After a walk on the beach, I spent a long time getting the sand out of the mechanism, and I didn't have a small enough tool to take it apart.

Great design in the premium version, made from better materials. Excellent steel, very nice milled aluminum handle scales. This version both looks and works great! I recommend it.

A classic example of minimalist EDC. The handle is improved compared to the previous one with Grivory and the blade is made from one of the first powder super steels. Light as a feather. I recommend it to those who are undecided.

A great little knife for everyday carry. Excellently made. The steel used in the blade is extremely good quality. I highly recommend everyone to buy one, because it is definitely worth it.
