Cold Steel AD-15 S35VN Folding Knife - Black

Engineered for everyday carry (EDC), this folding knife is the work of American knifemaker Andrew Demko. Outfitted with a Drop-Point blade crafted from S35VN powder steel, it delivers exceptional resistance to corrosion. Featuring a smooth blade with a satin finish, the knife ensures both style and performance. The handle, black in color, is constructed from G10 laminate and sports a textured, anti-slip surface. Deployment is swift thanks to the double-sided thumb stud, while the Scorpion Lock mechanism guarantees safe handling.

S35VN powder steel

Produced from CPM S35VN powder steel, the blade stands out for its exceptional corrosion resistance and outstanding edge retention. Subjected to heat treatment, the steel attains a hardness rating of 58-61 HRC, ensuring long-lasting sharpness and dependable performance during everyday tasks.

Drop-Point blade with satin finish

Equipped with a Drop-Point blade that has a length of 88.9 mm and a thickness of 3.8 mm. The design incorporates a smooth cutting edge paired with a high flat grind for optimal performance. A satin finish is applied, delivering a semi-matte appearance that boosts both visual appeal and resistance to scratches.

anti-slip G10 laminate handle, steel clip

The hybrid handle utilizes a steel framework as its foundation, layered with G10 laminate scales and complemented by an anodized aluminum ferrule featuring a backspacer. Thanks to the G10 material, the handle achieves outstanding durability, resistance to moisture, and minimal weight. A non-slip, ergonomically shaped handle integrates a small single-sided cross guard, reliably preventing the user's hand from sliding onto the blade. Enhanced with finger grooves, the tool remains firmly under control even in wet or grimy conditions. Jimping, or serrated thumb rests, on the spine of the blade provide a secure place for the thumb, improving grip and precision during use.

Outfitted with a steel tip-up clip that is reversible for both left- and right-handed carry, the knife ensures accessibility for all users. There is also a lanyard hole at the base of the handle, allowing for secure attachment of a safety cord or key ring.

Scorpion lock, double-sided stud

Featuring the innovative Scorpion Lock engineered by Andrew Demko, the knife ensures the blade is locked securely upon opening, maximizing user safety. The mechanism can be effortlessly disengaged using a practical lever situated at the rear of the handle, making one-handed closure simple and efficient. For rapid and intuitive deployment of the blade, a double-sided thumb stud is incorporated, enabling swift and easy access.

CPM S35VN feature
CPM S35VN
CPM S35VN is a stainless powder steel developed by Crucible Industries in collaboration with Chris Reeve, used in premium knives. It is an evolution of the popular S30V steel, offering a better balance between wear resistance, stainlessness, and ease of machining. Carbon (approx. 1.4%) is responsible for high hardness, while chromium (approx. 14%) gives the steel very good corrosion resistance, and vanadium (approx. 3%) extends edge life and improves cutting aggression. After hardening, it reaches 58-61 HRC, combining edge durability with fracture resistance. The steel retains its sharpness for a long time and is easy to sharpen, commonly used in EDC, outdoor, tactical, and collector's knives.
Scorpion Lock feature
Scorpion Lock
Scorpion Lock is a folding knife lock developed by Andrew Demko for Cold Steel. It uses a lever on the back of the handle to lock the blade in the open position and allow for safe one-handed closing. The design automatically adjusts to wear, ensuring high durability and stability even under heavy loads.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.

As soon as you pick it up, you know it's a solid folder for heavy-duty work. The mechanics are even better than expected. Practically like a fixed blade that you can hide in your pocket and operate with one hand. Another model from ColdSteel that I've become enchanted with. In the picture with a slightly lighter friend.

Sharp and solid, as expected. What turned out to be less obvious is the excellent mechanics—simply addictive...
