Cold Steel AD-15 S35VN Folding Knife - OD Green

A precision folding knife engineered for everyday carry (EDC), crafted by American knifemaker Andrew Demko. Featuring a Drop-Point blade forged from CPM S35VN powder steel, renowned for outstanding corrosion resistance. The plain edge blade sports a refined satin finish. The green handle is constructed from durable G10 laminate with a secure, non-slip texture. Deployment is swift and ambidextrous with a dual-sided thumb stud, while the innovative Scorpion Lock mechanism guarantees operational safety.

S35VN powder steel

Crafted from CPM S35VN powder steel, the blade stands out for its exceptional corrosion resistance and impressive edge retention. Undergoing professional heat treatment, the blade reaches a hardness of 58–61 HRC, ensuring enduring sharpness and reliable performance for daily tasks.

Drop-Point blade with satin finish

Equipped with a Drop-Point blade profile, the blade boasts a length of 88.9 mm and a thickness of 3.8 mm. The design features a plain cutting edge complemented by a high flat grind for efficient slicing performance. Finished using the satin technique, the blade displays a semi-matte sheen, enhancing its visual appeal and providing superior resistance to scratches.

non-slip G10 laminate handle, steel clip

The hybrid handle design utilizes a steel framework as its foundation, onto which G10 laminate scales and an anodized aluminum yoke with a backspacer are securely attached. With its G10 construction, the handle offers exceptional durability, resistance to moisture, and minimal weight. An ergonomically contoured, non-slip grip incorporates a single-sided cross guard, effectively guarding the hand against slipping onto the blade. Integrated finger grooves deliver enhanced control, ensuring a secure hold even with wet or dirty hands. The blade spine features jimping (knurling), providing a solid thumb rest and superior precision during cutting tasks.

A tip-up steel clip is fitted to the knife, allowing for repositioning on either side of the handle, accommodating both right- and left-handed operation. The handle terminates in an opening designed for attaching a safety lanyard or keychain.

Scorpion Lock, double-sided stud

Featuring the innovative Scorpion Lock engineered by Andrew Demko, the knife delivers a secure blade lockup upon deployment, greatly enhancing user safety during use. A user-friendly lever situated on the handle's spine enables effortless, one-handed closure. The inclusion of a double-sided thumb stud ensures rapid and easy blade deployment.

CPM S35VN feature
CPM S35VN
CPM S35VN is a stainless powder steel developed by Crucible Industries in collaboration with Chris Reeve, used in premium knives. It is an evolution of the popular S30V steel, offering a better balance between wear resistance, stainlessness, and ease of machining. Carbon (approx. 1.4%) is responsible for high hardness, while chromium (approx. 14%) gives the steel very good corrosion resistance, and vanadium (approx. 3%) extends edge life and improves cutting aggression. After hardening, it reaches 58-61 HRC, combining edge durability with fracture resistance. The steel retains its sharpness for a long time and is easy to sharpen, commonly used in EDC, outdoor, tactical, and collector's knives.
Scorpion Lock feature
Scorpion Lock
Scorpion Lock is a folding knife lock developed by Andrew Demko for Cold Steel. It uses a lever on the back of the handle to lock the blade in the open position and allow for safe one-handed closing. The design automatically adjusts to wear, ensuring high durability and stability even under heavy loads.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.

As soon as you pick it up, you know it's a solid folder for heavy-duty work. The mechanics are even better than expected. Practically like a fixed blade that you can hide in your pocket and operate with one hand. Another model from ColdSteel that I've become enchanted with. In the picture with a slightly lighter friend.

Sharp and solid, as expected. What turned out to be less obvious is the excellent mechanics—simply addictive...
