After a year and a half of use, I can say that this jacket is excellent: very compact and lightweight, so I can easily carry it in my backpack every day, and it works well in light rain. On weekends, it is my favorite protective layer for moderate wind and light precipitation during trekking trips. I wear it over merino wool base layers, and this combination provides very good heat dissipation during exertion. It also works well in summer, when you can even stash it in your trouser pocket — it has often come in handy for the children by the sea, where it is windy, and a moment later in the forest it is completely calm. So I use it in many ways, also in more demanding conditions, such as multi-day hikes with a 25 kg backpack or pushing through thick brush. So far, it has proven very durable — neither a heavy backpack nor bushes have damaged it. A big advantage is the adjustable hood with a small visor and the high collar, which really protect well in moderate wind and light rain. In addition, it dries extremely quickly. Another plus is the cut with an extended back, which is definitely useful.

Tiger Stripe camouflage
Tiger Stripe is a family of camouflage patterns originating in Southeast Asia, the most popular variant of which is the pattern developed in the Republic of Vietnam. Its design is based on the French Lizard pattern, adapted for tropical conditions. Tiger Stripe consists of irregular, brushstroke-like stripes in shades of green and brown and wider, grayish lines, placed on an olive or khaki background. Such an arrangement works particularly well in dense jungles and tropical forests, where it effectively camouflages the silhouette among low and medium vegetation. The camouflage makes it difficult to detect at close range and allows one to blend into the dynamic, shaded vegetation background. The name "Tiger Stripe" alludes to the coat of tigers - the pattern imitates the natural striped color pattern, which works well in conditions that require effective contour breakdown in dense greenery.

Review summary
The Tramontane jacket is exceptionally light, compact, and highly valued for its wind protection and packability, making it ideal for a wide range of situations from daily use to demanding outdoor activities. Users praise its effective wind and light rain resistance, quick-drying material, and the ability to fold it into a very small size (fits in a pocket or pouch). The jacket’s fit allows comfortable layering over a T-shirt or under a warmer layer. High-quality materials, neat workmanship, and a selection of practical colors and camouflages are frequently mentioned as strong points, as well as the convenient self-pack feature. Some note the lack of hand pockets, the material’s delicacy under intense use, and a relatively high price, but most agree the jacket justifies the investment. It is a versatile must-have for both city wear and outdoor adventures, especially when weather is unpredictable.

A very minimalist little jacket; it has only one pocket, which it packs into. It has long sleeves and is fairly long itself, so tall people shouldn’t have any problem with the size. The hood is very deep and fits well. Considering how little space it takes up, it protects well against the wind; not at all against rain, but that’s understandable.

When buying this jacket, you need to know there are no compromises here—everything is made to be as small and lightweight as possible. It is well made, but when compressing it tightly into the pocket, the seams raise concerns about whether they might eventually give way. The material is delicate and needs to be handled with care, but it doesn’t appear cheap. The hood fits the head perfectly, and the zipper goes up right under the nose. The jacket is cut rather loosely and is relatively long. The cuffs are quite narrow compared to the width of the sleeves, although they fit almost perfectly at the wrist. During very intense physical activity, you can actually get quite warm in it. There are many online comparisons between the Tramontane and Windrunner jackets from Helikon. It is very wind-resistant and will also withstand light rain (for a while). To ensure even greater thermal comfort, I recommend wearing an additional layer underneath, even just a thin sweatshirt.

First impressions: the jacket is very light, the material is thin, but it doesn't feel as delicate as I expected — which is of course a plus. It compresses tightly into a pocket, but we receive it folded on a cardboard like a shirt, of course in foil. The Tiger Stripe camouflage looks very nice in person, and contrary to expectations it goes well with many things. The jacket is quite long, and the sleeves are not too short either.

The Tramontane jacket fits in a pocket, is lightweight and well-fitted. Very well made, it can withstand light rain and provides thermal comfort on cooler evenings. You can always have it with you – it weighs almost nothing. I'm 183 cm tall and weigh 78 kg, and size M fits perfectly even if I wear something underneath. The Taiga Green color looks amazing in person. Size L would be too big. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Size: 3XL
This is a great, lightweight jacket for windy days and light rain, definitely worth buying. I may also decide on another color. I recently bought matching pants for it. I chose a larger size so I could wear something underneath.

Size: XXL
This is already my second jacket in this design. It is lightweight and takes up little space, so you can always keep it with you in case of an unexpected need. Bought on sale at a really great price.

I already have some experience using this windbreaker and overall I am very satisfied with it. It can be folded into its own pocket, it takes up very little space in a bag, in summer I always carry it with me, and in the evenings it has often protected me from a cold gust of wind. It's just a pity that it doesn't have side pockets, because they would be useful. When folded, it wrinkles badly, and after putting it on, it needs quite a lot of time to straighten out. The price is a bit high, but apart from that I have no major complaints.

Size: M
The jacket is excellent against the wind and can also handle lighter rain, although this mainly depends on washing it in a detergent intended for that purpose. The drawstrings and zippers work well. What I miss a little is a light lining; the zipper fastens quite high, which is not very comfortable. The jacket is not stiff, so you can manage with it, but in windy conditions it can be irritating.

Size: L
I already bought a Windrunner here in Alpha Green and had the chance to test this great piece of gear in the forest. When it is windy and you are sitting still, the cold can be really bothersome. Now I have also ordered the Tramontane model in Flecktarn camouflage. When packed, it takes up even less space, although unfortunately it has fewer pockets than the Windrunner. Its advantage, however, is that it can be put on more quickly over regular clothes and immediately provides better camouflage. Size L is right for me at a height of 183 cm, it fits well both over a T-shirt and over a jacket or fleece. There is really nothing more to say about the quality, and shipping from militaria, as usual, went smoothly — now it only remains to hope that DHL will do its job just as well.

Size: S
I bought it on sale and it turned out to be an excellent choice. It is very light, fits in a pocket without any problem, and it is truly a great windbreaker. I usually wear size M, but I chose S so that it would not fit too loosely, and at 171 cm tall and up to 80 kg, it fits perfectly. It works great for cycling, walks by the sea, windy weather, and cloudy days. The Woodland Panther color looks excellent. If there is another sale, I will gladly buy another one. It is definitely something worth having. You just need to be careful in the forest, where there are many branches, and while smoking. It is also worth following the recommendations on the Helikon tags, then the product will last a long time. Thank you, Militaria.eu, for the opportunity to buy such great things.

Size: XXL
It is very lightweight, so you can always carry it with you; when folded, it takes up little space and even fits in a chest pocket. It works great for running, trail running, cycling, and similar activities.

Size: L
I usually choose size L, so I ordered this size as well, and it fits perfectly over a T-shirt or a long-sleeved shirt. The material is very thin, but it protects well against the wind during activities or keeps you warm when you stop. It takes up very little space and can easily be carried with you just in case.

Very lightweight jacket, ideal to take with you. I bought it with the intention of keeping it in my fishing bag for frequent Scottish rain. It protects well against wind and provides decent insulation during light rain. It's practically weightless and can be easily folded into its own pocket.

This jacket is a typical outer protective layer for wind and rain, like runners have, except this one is in more tactical colors ;) It is very light and compact.
