Kershaw Iridium Folding Knife - Black

Folding knife with a Spear-Point blade profile and a 88 mm blade length, crafted from corrosion-resistant CPM MagnaCut stainless steel. It features a user-friendly Button Lock and handle scales made from lightweight yet durable G10 laminate.

The Iridium model is ideal for a wide range of activities - from everyday carry (EDC) to light outdoor tasks. The use of damage-resistant materials, carefully designed construction, and precise workmanship all contribute to this tool’s long-lasting durability.

Hardened CPM MagnaCut stainless steel, satin finish

The knife blade is made from high-quality CPM MagnaCut stainless steel, hardened to 62-64 HRC. Developed by Crucible Industries, it is produced using powder metallurgy. This steel offers high strength, excellent wear resistance, and very good corrosion resistance. The addition of niobium and molybdenum provides stability at high temperatures, making it suitable for demanding working conditions.

The blade is finished with a satin process, mechanically refining the blade surface to create parallel micro-scratches for its distinctive matte look. This finish helps mask minor scratches from use and reduces light reflections on the blade surface.

Spear-point blade, jimping, balanced construction

This model features a Spear-Point blade profile with a plain cutting edge and a length of 88 mm. There is jimping (grooves) on the spine, allowing a secure thumb placement for increased control over the blade during cutting tasks.

The blade's balanced construction offers improved control over the knife. The weight is evenly distributed between the blade and the handle, delivering greater cutting precision and reducing hand fatigue during prolonged use.

G10 laminate handle scales

The knife features an ergonomically shaped handle crafted from G10 laminate in black. This material withstands moisture, temperature changes, and most solvents or acids. It also offers high resistance to mechanical damage. The textured surface guarantees a secure and confident grip while using the knife.

The handle construction includes a contrasting olive backspacer. This component can serve as a mounting point for a lanyard, cord, or strap to secure the knife. The screws in the handle are finished with the Black Oxide method.

Button lock, thumb stud, KVT system

You can open the knife one-handed using its double-sided thumb stud, allowing smooth blade deployment. The opening mechanism is enhanced by the KVT (Kershaw Velocity Technology) system, which uses a ball bearing assembly where balls are set in a polymer cage. This setup stabilizes the moving parts and further reduces friction, creating a very smooth blade motion.

The model is equipped with an easy-to-operate Button Lock based on a spring-loaded button. Once fully deployed, the pin locks into a notch at the base of the blade, securing it in the open position. This design allows for smooth one-handed opening and closing and improves safety, as it does not require your fingers to enter the blade path during operation.

spring pocket clip

Comfortable carry is provided by a spring deep-carry pocket clip. The design allows the clip to be installed on either the right or left side, in the tip-up position. This component keeps the knife stable in a pocket or on gear, limiting movement during activity. Both the clip and its screws have been bead-blasted for a matte finish.

CPM MagnaCut feature
CPM MagnaCut
CPM MagnaCut is a stainless tool steel developed by Crucible Industries and produced using powder metallurgy (CPM). It is characterized by high strength, high wear resistance, and very good corrosion resistance, despite its relatively low chromium content (10.7%). The steel is comparable to the best tool steels, such as CPM-4V or Vanadis 4E, offering high resistance to cracking and chipping. Thanks to the use of free chromium and carbides formed mainly by vanadium (4%), CPM MagnaCut is less brittle and resistant to abrasion, even with a hardness of 60-64 HRC. In addition, the presence of niobium (2%) and molybdenum (2%) ensures stability at high temperatures, making the steel ideal for harsh working conditions. The composition of CPM MagnaCut also includes 1.15% carbon, which ensures adequate hardness and edge durability, making this steel valued in the manufacture of tools and weapons.
KVT - Kershaw Velocity Technology feature
KVT - Kershaw Velocity Technology
KVT (Kershaw Velocity Technology) is an advanced ball bearing system developed by Kershaw that ensures smooth and quick blade opening in folding knives. The mechanism is based on a ball bearing in which the balls are mounted in a plastic cage - this solution stabilizes the rolling elements and additionally minimizes friction, which translates into very smooth blade movement. In practice, KVT makes opening the knife with a flipper or thumb stud as easy and fast as in models with mechanical opening assistance, while maintaining the manual nature of the operation.
Button Lock feature
Button Lock
Button Lock (also known as Plunge Lock) is a locking mechanism in folding knives based on a spring button. When fully opened, the tang enters a notch at the base of the blade and locks it in the working position; when closed, the same element acts as a detent. The design allows for smooth opening and closing with one hand and increases safety, as it does not require the user to place their fingers on the blade line. Thanks to its simplicity and reliability, the Button Lock is often used in EDC knives and collector's models.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.
Bead Blast feature
Bead Blast
Bead Blast is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel with a stream of fine ceramic or glass beads under high pressure. It gives the surface a uniform matte, satin-gray appearance without any light reflections. The surface obtained in the sandblasting process is smooth and aesthetic, but due to micro-pores, it may be slightly more susceptible to wear and corrosion if the blade is not properly protected. Nevertheless, Bead Blast is valued for its simplicity, discretion, and masking properties, which is why it is used in EDC, outdoor, and military knives.
Black Oxide feature
Black Oxide
Black Oxide is a chemical conversion process in which a thin layer of magnetite (Fe3O4) is formed on the surface of steel and other ferrous metals. It gives a black, matte appearance, reduces reflectivity, and does not affect the dimensions of the components, so it can also be used in precision parts. The coating provides limited corrosion protection, so it is usually reinforced with oil or wax. Black Oxide is used in knives, firearms, and tools. The process requirements are specified in MIL-DTL-13924, which covers processing grades, color uniformity, and corrosion resistance tests, and is the basic standard for military and technical applications.

Beautiful, elegant, and slim folder, winner of the "best buy" award at BladeShow 2023. The blade is correctly centered in the scales in both open and closed positions, with a symmetrical grind. In short— a well-made product. The incredibly smooth operation of the knife is due to ball bearings, combined with well-placed thumb studs on the blade and the Axis Lock (here called Dura Lock), which allows for several different ways to open the knife, making it an excellent candidate for a collection for someone looking for a "fidget knife" (a knife you can play with to keep your hands busy when bored). I highly recommend it.
