The jacket works very well in worse weather conditions. It protects well against wind and rain, and the lining provides extra warmth on colder days. The material looks solid and the whole thing seems to be well made. The cut is comfortable and does not restrict movement, even with more layers underneath. Big plus for practical pockets and the ability to adjust the jacket to your needs. If someone is looking for a universal jacket for outdoor activities and everyday use, it is really worth it.

The second-generation ECWCS jacket is waterproof and constructed from a three-layer laminate that offers robust protection against wind and water. The material also prioritizes breathability, helping to minimize the chance of overheating during intense activity.
The jacket’s outer shell comprises 96% polyester combined with 4% elastane, while the interior features a breathable polyurethane membrane. A detachable fleece liner underneath provides warmth, making the jacket suitable not only for autumn and spring, but also for winter wear. The Wet Weather variant incorporates a snow skirt to block snow from entering underneath.
Equipped with seven pockets, the jacket ensures ample storage options:
- two sizable hip pockets secured with waterproof zippers,
- two arm pockets fitted with velcro and waterproof zippers,
- a large back lining pocket with velcro closure,
- two side zipper pockets in the lining.
Closure is provided by a two-way YKK zipper, further reinforced with a double storm flap. Underarm ventilation zippers maintain airflow and help regulate temperature.
The high collar and hood deliver reliable protection to the head and neck against wind and cold. Adjustable velcro cuffs ensure a customized fit around the wrist. All external seams are fully taped.

The WASP I Z1B variant excels in rocky landscapes with sparse vegetation, such as tundra or mountain areas above the tree line, and can also adapt effectively to urban or industrial settings dominated by concrete and steel. Performance remains strong even when snow partially covers the terrain.

Jacket purchased on 1.12.2024, well and solidly made, nice external pocket zippers, waterproof. The fleece is warm, and the sleeves are slightly shorter than the jacket, but that's a plus—they don't get soaked in the rain. In a model from another company, that was a problem. I've worn it for two winters, and it’s not bad. :-) As for downsides, after removing the fleece, there's no hook to hang the jacket, which is only present on the fleece. Overall, I recommend it.
