Pulsar is one of the most recognized brands in the world in the field of night vision and thermal imaging optics. Part of the European Yukon Advanced Optics Worldwide group, the company has been setting industry standards for over three decades in low-light and no-light observation equipment — serving hunters, wildlife observers, and security professionals alike.

History and Origins

Pulsar's story begins in 1991, when a small group of passionate engineers started assembling their first wooden observation tubes in the basement of an unfinished residential building. From those humble beginnings grew a company that became a global leader in night vision and thermal imaging devices. In 1994, the venture was established as the Yukon Advanced Optics brand, headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The pivotal moment came in 2005, when Yukon became the first company in the world to introduce digital night vision devices for civilian use — the Ranger and Ranger Pro 5x42 binoculars. This pioneering step transformed access to advanced night vision technology. The Pulsar brand as a distinct commercial identity made its official European debut in 2009, with the presentation of the Digisight N550 digital riflescope at IWA. That scope was the first to introduce a one-shot zeroing system, an advanced on-screen menu, and video output — features that have since become industry standards.

Technology and Innovation

Pulsar is consistently committed to proprietary technology. Every aspect of production — from firmware development and optical system design through to manufacturing and packaging — is carried out in Yukon group factories located in Europe. This sets Pulsar apart from many competitors who rely on imported components from Asia.

In 2011, Pulsar launched thermal imaging production with the Quantum series — the first thermal monocular available on the civilian market. The years that followed brought the Helion, Axion, Thermion, and Merger series, which have regularly earned industry awards. The Stream Vision 2 platform is Pulsar's proprietary mobile application that connects devices to a smartphone via WiFi, enabling remote control, video recording, and firmware updates directly in the field.

Product Range and User Groups

Pulsar targets hunters, wildlife observers, and security professionals. From the start, the brand has worked closely with the hunting community, involving hunters directly in product testing — the result being the Thermion thermal riflescopes and Merger binoculars, which have become synonymous with night hunting across Europe. Wildlife observers and birdwatchers value the Axion monoculars for their compact form factor and image quality. The security and surveillance sector relies on high-sensitivity thermal devices capable of detecting targets at long range.
