Ontario Rat 2 is a compact version of the Rat 1 folding knife, designed to excel as a practical EDC (Every Day Carry) tool for daily tasks. Crafted from high-carbon D2 steel, the blade ensures durability and reliable performance, while the handle features a blend of G10 laminate with carbon fiber for strength and a secure grip.
Drop-Point Blade, D2 Steel
Featuring a drop point profile, the blade is crafted from high-carbon D2 tool steel, which qualifies as semi-stainless due to its elevated chromium content. Noted for its exceptional abrasion resistance and sustained sharpness, the steel ensures reliable performance. A black coating on the blade adds protection against corrosion. Ambidextrous thumb studs allow for one-handed operation by both right- and left-handed users. Jimping on the spine of the blade offers secure thumb placement and enhanced control during use.
G10 Laminate Handle
Constructed from G10 glass-epoxy laminate with an outer layer of carbon fiber, the handle incorporates steel liners and a Liner Lock mechanism. A pronounced index finger groove enhances handling and control. The back end features a hole designed for attaching a cord or lanyard.
Reversible Clip

Probably everything about this little rat has already been written. The classic speaks for itself. I am one of those people who will always appreciate it for the quality-to-price ratio. For me, it's yet another Rat in the pack :)

Smaller and lighter, lacks a thumb stud. The difference is that here they used D2 steel, which in my opinion is better than the AUS8 used in the older model. D2 holds sharpness better.

Nice small folder for EDC. Also, great D2 steel is used here instead of the rather weak AUS8 found in cheaper models. The knife is truly worth recommending.

I have the green version, great folder - smaller than its bigger brother, so it's more convenient for daily pocket carry. As for build and quality, there isn't much to say, Ontario has gotten us used to top quality.
