Designed for utility, the Ontario Rat 2 serves as a compact alternative to the Rat 1 folding knife, making it an excellent choice for an EDC (Every Day Carry) tool. Featuring a blade crafted from high-carbon D2 steel, the knife is equipped with a handle blending G10 laminate and carbon fiber for enhanced durability.
Drop-Point Blade, D2 Steel
Equipped with a drop point blade made from high-carbon D2 tool steel, the knife benefits from a high chromium content that classifies it as semi-stainless. This steel offers exceptional wear resistance and retains sharpness for extended periods. Dual thumb studs on both sides of the blade allow smooth, one-handed deployment, making it convenient for both right- and left-handed operators. Jimping along the spine ensures secure thumb placement and enhanced control during use.
G10 Laminate Handle
Constructed from a G10 glass-epoxy laminate with a carbon fiber layer, the handle offers enhanced durability and a modern look. Steel liners and a Liner Lock mechanism are integrated for added strength and security. A deep index finger notch is incorporated into the handle design to provide superior grip. At the end of the handle, a hole makes attaching a cord or lanyard easy.
Reversible Clip
Outfitted with a spring clip, the knife enables easy attachment to a belt or pocket edge for practical carry. The clip is reversible and offers four mounting options: blade tip down, blade tip up, and configurations suitable for both right-handed and left-handed users.

Probably everything about this little rat has already been written. The classic speaks for itself. I am one of those people who will always appreciate it for the quality-to-price ratio. For me, it's yet another Rat in the pack :)

Smaller and lighter, lacks a thumb stud. The difference is that here they used D2 steel, which in my opinion is better than the AUS8 used in the older model. D2 holds sharpness better.

Nice small folder for EDC. Also, great D2 steel is used here instead of the rather weak AUS8 found in cheaper models. The knife is truly worth recommending.

I have the green version, great folder - smaller than its bigger brother, so it's more convenient for daily pocket carry. As for build and quality, there isn't much to say, Ontario has gotten us used to top quality.
