Cold Steel Engage 4116SS Tanto Folding Knife - OD Green

EDC Folding Knife from the Engage series, equipped with a blade in a Tanto profile constructed from 4116SS stainless steel, appreciated for its easy sharpening. The blade features a Black Stonewash finish, boosting resistance to scratches and minimizing glare. Opening is facilitated by a dual-sided thumb stud. Secure blade lock-up is provided by the patented sliding Atlas Lock mechanism from Cold Steel. The handle, colored green, is crafted from glass-reinforced nylon (GFN) offering a firm, non-slip hold. A spring clip ensures comfortable everyday carry.

4116SS Stainless Steel

Engineered from robust 4116SS stainless steel, the knife blade delivers superior edge retention, exceptional corrosion resistance, and easy maintenance. Precision heat treatment brings the blade to a hardness of 55-57 HRC.

Clip-Point Blade Profile, Black Stonewash Finish

Equipped with a Tanto-style blade, this knife boasts a length of 79 mm and a thickness of 2.4 mm. Designed with a smooth edge and a high flat grind, the blade delivers efficient cutting performance. A Black Stonewash finish provides a dark, matte appearance that reduces glare and significantly improves resistance to corrosion and scratching. The ergonomically contoured spine offers stable thumb placement, granting greater control, precision, and comfort during use. Optimized blade geometry delivers outstanding piercing ability without compromising the blade’s robustness for demanding tasks.

Durable GFN Handle

Handle scales crafted from durable glass-reinforced nylon (GFN) offer a reliable and secure hold, enhanced by ergonomic shaping with a finger notch and a textured, non-slip surface. The inclusion of a finger notch delivers improved control over the tool, even in wet or muddy conditions.

A spring clip on the handle ensures comfortable everyday carry, enabling the knife to be attached to a belt or gear. The reversible clip accommodates both right- and left-handed users. At the end of the handle, an aperture provides the option to attach a lanyard or security cord.

Atlas Lock

Upon deployment, the blade is firmly secured by the modern Atlas Lock mechanism, a patented innovation by Cold Steel. The design boasts exceptional durability and resistance to heavy loads. Engaging the slider positioned on the handle's spine enables rapid and safe one-handed lock release. For swift blade deployment, a double-sided thumb stud ensures quick and efficient opening.

4116SS feature
4116SS
4116SS steel is the commercial name for high-quality 1.4116 stainless steel from the German DIN group, widely used in kitchen knives and medical tools. The carbon content (0.45-0.55%) ensures good hardness and edge durability, while chromium (14-15%) guarantees high resistance to corrosion and oxidation. The steel also contains molybdenum (up to 0.6%), vanadium (up to 0.2%), manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), and a small amount of nickel (up to 1%). It achieves a hardness of 55-57 HRC after appropriate heat treatment, which allows for knives with good cutting properties, easy maintenance, and corrosion resistance.
Atlas Lock feature
Atlas Lock
Atlas Lock is a modern Cold Steel lock, which in terms of durability brings folding knives closer to fixed blade models. The mechanism is based on two pins and a locking rod that distribute pressure evenly; the stop pin absorbs some of the blade's force, and the hidden spring is protected from dirt. The slider on the back of the handle allows for quick, two-way, and safe folding with one hand.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.
GFN - Glass Filled Nylon feature
GFN - Glass Filled Nylon

GFN (Glass Filled Nylon) is a nylon reinforced with glass fiber, offering low weight, high durability, and resistance to moisture and many chemicals. The material performs exceptionally well in demanding conditions, maintaining its strength even under intensive use. GFN surfaces may be completely smooth or textured to improve grip, providing better control and overall ergonomics. The robustness of GFN handles has made this material a standard in the production of EDC (Everyday Carry) knives as well as lightweight tactical designs.

An interesting proposal from this manufacturer for a knife to carry every day. It looks good, has plenty of power, and a pleasant mechanism. I've become fond of it over the past few weeks.

A chunk of a tough folder. Very secure lock. Comfortable handle and a blade with plenty of power. It will be perfect for heavy-duty work, even though it's a folding knife. I recommend it.
