Cold Steel Engage S35VN Folding Knife - Black

A folding EDC (Every Day Carry) knife from the Engage series, featuring a Clip-Point blade made of high-quality S35VN stainless steel produced using powder metallurgy. The blade is finished with a satin finish, which gives it a semi-matte surface, ensuring an attractive appearance and increasing scratch resistance. The knife opens using a double-sided thumb stud. The blade is locked by the Atlas Lock sliding mechanism patented by Cold Steel. The black handle, made of G10 laminate, provides a non-slip grip. A spring-loaded clip ensures comfortable, everyday carry.

S35VN stainless steel

The blade is made of CPM S35VN powder-coated steel, valued for its high corrosion resistance and edge retention. After heat treatment, it achieves a hardness of 58–61 HRC, allowing it to stay sharp for a long time and perform well during daily, intensive use.

Clip-Point profile blade, satin finish

The blade features a Clip-Point profile with a length of 79 mm and a thickness of 2.4 mm. It is characterized by a smooth cutting edge, finished with a flat grind. The blade’s satin finish gives it a semi-matte surface, ensuring an aesthetic appearance and increasing its resistance to scratches that occur during use. The contoured blade spine provides thumb support, increasing control over the knife while cutting and improving precision and comfort of use. The blade geometry ensures excellent cutting performance while maintaining high durability.

Durable G10 laminate handle

The handle scales are made of durable G10 laminate, which, thanks to its ergonomic contouring with a finger groove and non-slip texture, ensures a stable and secure grip. The finger groove enhances control over the tool, even when your hands are wet or dirty.

Comfortable everyday carrying is ensured by a spring-loaded clip on the handle, allowing the knife to be clipped to a belt or other accouterments. The clip is reversible and can be mounted for both right- and left-handed users. A hole at the end of the handle allows for the attachment of a safety cord or lanyard.

Atlas Lock

When open, the blade is securely locked in place by the modern Atlas Lock mechanism, patented by Cold Steel. The design is characterized by high strength and load-bearing capacity. Operating the slide located on the back of the handle allows for quick and safe one-handed release of the lock. Additionally, a thumb stud on both sides allows for quick opening of the knife.

CPM S35VN feature
CPM S35VN
CPM S35VN is a stainless powder steel developed by Crucible Industries in collaboration with Chris Reeve, used in premium knives. It is an evolution of the popular S30V steel, offering a better balance between wear resistance, stainlessness, and ease of machining. Carbon (approx. 1.4%) is responsible for high hardness, while chromium (approx. 14%) gives the steel very good corrosion resistance, and vanadium (approx. 3%) extends edge life and improves cutting aggression. After hardening, it reaches 58-61 HRC, combining edge durability with fracture resistance. The steel retains its sharpness for a long time and is easy to sharpen, commonly used in EDC, outdoor, tactical, and collector's knives.
Atlas Lock feature
Atlas Lock
Atlas Lock is a modern Cold Steel lock, which in terms of durability brings folding knives closer to fixed blade models. The mechanism is based on two pins and a locking rod that distribute pressure evenly; the stop pin absorbs some of the blade's force, and the hidden spring is protected from dirt. The slider on the back of the handle allows for quick, two-way, and safe folding with one hand.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.

An interesting proposal from this manufacturer for a knife to carry every day. It looks good, has plenty of power, and a pleasant mechanism. I've become fond of it over the past few weeks.

A chunk of a tough folder. Very secure lock. Comfortable handle and a blade with plenty of power. It will be perfect for heavy-duty work, even though it's a folding knife. I recommend it.
