Cold Steel Engage AUS-10A Folding Knife - Grey

Folding EDC (Every Day Carry) knife from the Engage line, featuring a blade with a Clip-Point profile crafted from Japanese AUS-10A stainless steel. The blade undergoes a Black Stonewash finish, which enhances resistance to scratches and suppresses unwanted glare. Deployment is achieved via an ambidextrous thumb stud. Blade security is provided by Cold Steel’s patented Atlas Lock sliding mechanism. The handle, presented in gray, is constructed from G10 laminate for enhanced grip traction. Equipped with a spring-loaded clip, the knife ensures ease and reliability for daily carry.

Japanese AUS-10A stainless steel

Forged from Japanese AUS-10A steel, the knife blade offers remarkable strength along with outstanding resistance to corrosion and wear. Upon hardening, the blade achieves a hardness level of 58-61 HRC.

Clip-Point blade, Black Stonewash finish

Equipped with a Clip-Point blade measuring 79 mm in length and 2.4 mm in thickness, this knife provides a sleek, plain edge with a flat grind. A Black Stonewash finish delivers a dark, matte look designed to minimize reflections and enhance corrosion and scratch resistance. The ergonomically contoured blade spine enables reliable thumb placement, granting superior control and boosting both accuracy and comfort during cutting tasks. Superior blade geometry ensures exceptional cutting performance while preserving outstanding durability.

Durable G10 laminate handle

Handle scales crafted from rugged G10 laminate deliver exceptional durability and, with ergonomic shaping featuring a finger notch and a non-slip surface, guarantee a secure and stable hold. Enhanced control over the tool is provided by the finger notch, even when hands are wet or soiled.

Convenient everyday carry is provided by a spring clip integrated into the handle, enabling the knife to be attached to a belt or gear. The clip is reversible for ambidextrous use, accommodating both right- and left-handed users. An opening at the handle’s end permits the attachment of a safety cord or lanyard.

Atlas Lock

A modern Atlas Lock mechanism, patented by Cold Steel, ensures the blade remains securely locked when open. Renowned for its exceptional strength and resistance to heavy loads, the mechanism is both robust and reliable. Quick and safe lock disengagement is possible with one hand by operating the slider situated along the spine of the handle. The ambidextrous thumb stud enables rapid deployment of the blade.

AUS-10 feature
AUS-10
AUS-10 is a high-quality stainless steel produced by the Japanese company Aichi Steel, considered one of the best in the AUS steel series, used mainly in mid-range and high-end utility knives, produced mainly in Japan and Taiwan. The carbon content (0.95-1.1%) ensures high hardness, while chromium (13-14.5%) guarantees very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. The steel also contains manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), phosphorus (up to 0.025%), and sulfur (up to 0.025%), which affect hardenability, impact strength, elasticity, and machinability, improving structural stability and maintaining mechanical properties. After hardening, the steel achieves a hardness of 58-61 HRC, offering an excellent balance between strength, edge retention, and ease of sharpening. It is comparable to 440C steel, differing in carbon content and the addition of vanadium, which improves structural homogeneity and increases abrasion resistance.
Atlas Lock feature
Atlas Lock
Atlas Lock is a modern Cold Steel lock, which in terms of durability brings folding knives closer to fixed blade models. The mechanism is based on two pins and a locking rod that distribute pressure evenly; the stop pin absorbs some of the blade's force, and the hidden spring is protected from dirt. The slider on the back of the handle allows for quick, two-way, and safe folding with one hand.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.

An interesting proposal from this manufacturer for a knife to carry every day. It looks good, has plenty of power, and a pleasant mechanism. I've become fond of it over the past few weeks.

A chunk of a tough folder. Very secure lock. Comfortable handle and a blade with plenty of power. It will be perfect for heavy-duty work, even though it's a folding knife. I recommend it.
