Cold Steel Engage 3,5'' S35VN folding knife

Folding EDC Knife from the Engage series, equipped with a Clip-Point profile blade crafted from premium S35VN stainless steel manufactured using advanced powder metallurgy. The blade showcases a satin finish, delivering a semi-matte look that enhances visual appeal and bolsters scratch resistance. A double-sided thumb stud enables quick blade deployment. The blade is secured by the innovative Atlas Lock sliding mechanism, exclusively patented by Cold Steel. The ergonomically designed handle, forged from black G10 laminate, ensures a firm, non-slip grip. A spring clip provides reliable and convenient everyday carry.

S35VN Stainless Steel

Forged from CPM S35VN powder steel, the blade offers outstanding corrosion resistance and exceptional edge retention. Undergoing a precise heat treatment process, the steel reaches a hardness level of 58–61 HRC, ensuring enduring sharpness during frequent and intense use.

Clip-Point blade, satin finish

A Clip-Point blade measuring 89 mm in length and 3.8 mm in thickness features a plain cutting edge and is crafted with a flat grind for optimal performance. The satin finish creates a semi-matte appearance, adding visual appeal while also boosting resistance to scratches encountered during tasks. Thanks to the profiled spine, the thumb can rest comfortably, which improves knife control, cutting accuracy, and user comfort. Blade geometry is designed to deliver superior cutting efficiency without sacrificing durability.

Handle made from durable G10 laminate

The handle scales are crafted from resilient G10 laminate, featuring ergonomic shaping with a finger notch, a non-slip surface, and an integrated cross guard to deliver a secure and stable hold. Such a configuration ensures optimal control of the tool, even when hands are wet or dirty.

A spring clip on the handle provides comfortable, everyday carry, enabling attachment of the knife to a belt or gear. The clip offers reversible mounting for both right- and left-handed users. A hole at the end of the handle accommodates the addition of a safety cord or lanyard.

Atlas Lock

In the open position, the blade is firmly secured by Cold Steel’s advanced Atlas Lock mechanism, which holds a patented design. The build showcases exceptional strength and impressive load-bearing capacity. Manipulating the slider on the handle’s spine allows for fast and reliable one-handed disengagement of the lock. For rapid deployment, the knife is outfitted with a dual-sided thumb stud.

CPM S35VN feature
CPM S35VN
CPM S35VN is a stainless powder steel developed by Crucible Industries in collaboration with Chris Reeve, used in premium knives. It is an evolution of the popular S30V steel, offering a better balance between wear resistance, stainlessness, and ease of machining. Carbon (approx. 1.4%) is responsible for high hardness, while chromium (approx. 14%) gives the steel very good corrosion resistance, and vanadium (approx. 3%) extends edge life and improves cutting aggression. After hardening, it reaches 58-61 HRC, combining edge durability with fracture resistance. The steel retains its sharpness for a long time and is easy to sharpen, commonly used in EDC, outdoor, tactical, and collector's knives.
Atlas Lock feature
Atlas Lock
Atlas Lock is a modern Cold Steel lock, which in terms of durability brings folding knives closer to fixed blade models. The mechanism is based on two pins and a locking rod that distribute pressure evenly; the stop pin absorbs some of the blade's force, and the hidden spring is protected from dirt. The slider on the back of the handle allows for quick, two-way, and safe folding with one hand.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.

An interesting proposal from this manufacturer for a knife to carry every day. It looks good, has plenty of power, and a pleasant mechanism. I've become fond of it over the past few weeks.

A chunk of a tough folder. Very secure lock. Comfortable handle and a blade with plenty of power. It will be perfect for heavy-duty work, even though it's a folding knife. I recommend it.
